Do you have to have a "purchase permit" for each handgun? Say you were going to buy two handguns in one trip, would you need two permits or just one for the purchase? What about if you bought one then a month later another? Yes, a "permit" for each one, two permits for two guns, etc. With a concealed pistol license, I think some of the legwork may be eliminated, but I believe you still have to bring the pistol in for a "safety check" at the local sheriff's office, or village police. If you bought one, then a month later, another, you have a pretty good collection going--I don't believe there is a limit on numbers.

I know what it sounds like in name but what, in reality, is a "safety check"?
Sounds like a lot of hassle setup just to discourage firearm ownership.
A couple of weeks ago I went out to lunch from work and decided to stop by and check out some handguns. I found a .45 I liked and also found a .22 revolver for my daughter. Filled out the federal "yellow sheet", waited a couple of minutes while they called in the federal "Brady Check", and out the door I went with the two weapons in hand.
Ended up that I didn't like the .45 so I took it back last week. They sold it on consignment for me (I didn't have time to fool with it & it creates a paper trail that I don't own the thing anymore - just in case it ends up north of here sometime). Yesterday I went and picked up my money (ended up costing me about $50.00 all total) and picked out a different .45. I'll try it out this weekend.
Sounds like all of the "red tape" you guys have would have really put the damper on my shopping.
I guess it is all in attitude. It sounds like in your state you have to show just cause why they should allow you to own a firearm; in mine, they have to show just cause why you can't own a firearm.
Does that sound correct?
