Because this is someone still living in a pre-internet world, which is odd since his supposed specialty was cyber security. Another person who has not grasped the ability of the net to immediately refute lies that used to go unchallenged by the old media.

Great point. At SOME point the combination of the New Media ('Net, blogs, talk radio, Fox, etc.) is going to have the effect of ending the liberal left's and mainstream media's ability to lie and spin with impunity...today is one more step.

Clarke's comments to Angle were given off the record or on background - Angle said he went to the WH either yesterday or today to get permission to release them today. That may explain why Mr. Clarke didn't expect his current allegations to be made null and void by his comments to Angle in 2002.
