If you go to the question/answer section, you have Clarke saying that Pres. Bush was part of this process ALL ALONG!!

Yeah, that's my sense too. The other concern I have is that the great bloated behemoth that is the American electorate has already had its eyes glaze over regarding this, and is in too deep a stupor to have this contradiction register on its consciousness.

QUESTION: When was that presented to the president?
CLARKE: Well, the president was briefed throughout this process.

Kerrey seems to be trying to actually do what he is there for: find the problem and a solution so this cannot happen again, at least like this.

Thanks for the post and ping and excerpt ! ...And the third point is the Bush administration decided then, you know, mid-January, to do two things. One, vigorously pursue the existing policy, including all of the lethal covert action findings, which we've now made public to some extent. And the point is, while this big review was going on, there were still in effect, the lethal findings were still in effect. The second thing the administration decided to do is to initiate a process to look at those issues which had been on the table for a couple of years and get them decided. So, point five, that process which was initiated in the first week in February, uh, decided in principle, uh in the spring to add to the existing Clinton strategy and to increase CIA resources, for example, for covert action, five-fold, to go after Al Qaeda.

I would like to see some of the transcripts from Clarke's congressional testimony in 2002. It would be sweet to see what he said under oath then. Because if it's different than what his saying now, he's caught. Either he's lying now, or he lied to congress.

JohnGalt employs typical troll tactics.
Clarke came forward with serious allegations of conduct that amounts to, at best, incompetence, at worst, treason.
Within three days his accusations are completely bebunked by a variety of factual accounts...tapes, letters, etc.
JohnGalt decides that makes the Bush administration just like Clinton, nevermind that Clinton covered up malfeasance, whilst Bush fought a war.
Just a helpful hint, JohnGalt, if the guy is lying, he's not a whistleblower. Get it?

Question: Mr. Clarke, You have been caught in a lie.
You have lied in print and in public and you have incited others to repeat your lies.
You have attempted to subvert a presidential election with your lies.
You have attempted to interfer with the United States pursuit of terrorist through lies and distraction.
You should feel nothing but shame.
Mr. Clarke, who induced you to write your lying book?
Answers:TM???

I don't trust anybody in government to begin with.
I was speaking more to the damage control style of this White House.

This is a bombshell - now how do you get these people in a closed-door session to have this info in order to "cross-examine" Clarke?
To: xzins
Why isn't Drudge on top of this? He's headlining some pointless crap about "American Idol."
To: Zack Nguyen
Never mind all that. JohnGalt is trying to find a way to blame Bush!
