"I would be embarrassed masquerading as a war hero if I were Cleland since he blew himself up picking up a granade IN CAMP, far from any battle."

Not only was he NOT in a combat situation, he was far from any combat action, period. He was on his way to drink some beer with some friends when he saw a hand grenade lying on the ground, and like a complete, inexperienced moron bent down to pick it up! A seven-year old would have known not to do that!

"I think it's despicable," Cleland said. "It seemed the impact, or the intent [of the comment], was to say, 'Hey, I'm a Vietnam veteran and that's my main qualification to be President.'"

He pointed out that President Bush didn't serve in Vietnam, and said, "When you trash one of my fellow Vietnam veterans ... you're trashing me and my 3.5million fellow veterans who [served]."

Perhaps someone should send Clelland the audio tape of Kerry "testifying" before the Senate committee.

If I were a rich man I would play that testimony on all TV and radio stations.Let's see who was trashing the Vietnam vets and those that were still there.

"These guys give 'effeminate' a bad name."

I know several very feminine women with more cajones than DemocRATs.

The quicker the response, the deeper the wound.

The blood flow from a sharp razor cut is often slow to begin, but the victim can sense the damage even if not immediately visible.

"Hey, I'm a Vietnam veteran and that's my main qualification to be President."

Cleland got it right! This is precisely what Kerry is saying.

Perfect! Let them keep up this line of defense. They sound like they're 12 years old and the people are going to look at that, think about what President Bush has had to go through, and figure out there's no way these people are tough enough to handle the job.

Good job, Max. You figured it out. Care to try to counter the point?

He pointed out that President Bush didn't serve in Vietnam, and said, "When you trash one of my fellow Vietnam veterans ... you're trashing me and my 3.5million fellow veterans who [served]."

So, if I hear you right, Max, you're saying that once you serve in Viet Nam, everything you do after that is, de-facto, honorable and right and good for the country?

Not to discredit anyone's military service, but that just won't wash.

Shalom.

Um, wait a sec -- John Kerry is a Vietnam vet? When did this come out? I thought all he's ever said was "yada, yada, yada...".

"JFKerry got himself a movie camera so he could 'reenact' his gun fights...."

Is this true? I'm not doubting your veracity, but I had not heard this. He was sure in and out of Nam in a big fat hurry.

Oooooh, that's it perfectly. The JF'n Kerry campaign, its about nothing. Too bad you couldn't get George and Jerry to do a commercial for Bush.....

Jerry, no way. George, I don't know - he makes a lot of solidarity visits to Israel etc, and is right wing at least on that issue - I don't know about others. Unfortunately I bet Larry David the big schlameel putz rat thinks he probably owns a copyright on 'yada yada'.

Now to the substanitive parts of the Kerry Campaign's rebuttal:

Cleland: "When you trash one of my fellow Vietnam veterans ...[snip]"

Your service wasn't trashed. Neither the service of ANY US military veteran. The point is this, Max: being in Vietnam qualifies NO ONE to be President, just like walking into a garage qualifies NO ONE to be called a "car". Apples and Oranges, Max. Yet, as you have surmised, this is the main thrust and substance (jello) of the Kerry campaign.

Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter immediately demanded an apology ...
Cutter zinged back: "Perhaps George Bush's campaign can be summed up this way: 'I lost 3 million jobs, turned record surpluses into record deficits, denied affordable health care and prescription drug coverage to most Americans, yada yada yada, four more years.'"

Never mind for a second the fact that she's wrong, of course (gee, they've raised the fake number to 3 million now, I see). One doesn't typically ask for an apology for something, then go right out and slam your opponent with the very thing in which you asked the apology for. Not even trying to play nice for the cameras, are we, Steph?

Yes it is true.

First came out in National Enquirer that some of his "dates" were turned off cause that is what he wanted to do on dates sit and watch the "reenactments" he filmed while in Vietnam.

Since that time it has been reported by Boston press that he to this day sits and watches these "reenactments" of himself, that he filmed while in Vietnam.

Now we see these movies being put to use in his campaign ads for president.

"When Republicans campaign, it's attacking."
How true. Merely respond to an untruth or point out something factual about Kerry's record, and it's an attack. Can't we open our mouths?

He [Cleland] pointed out that President Bush didn't serve in Vietnam, and said, "When you trash one of my fellow Vietnam veterans ... you're trashing me and my 3.5million fellow veterans who [served]."

So let me get this straight Max, if you went to Vietnam, you are immune from criticism? What Barbara Streisand!

Anyone notice how you cannot criticize the Vietnam War, but you can trash the war we are fighting today? Something is wrong with this picture!

It's perfectly consistent. When the war is in the Past - and a Dimocrat is attempting to claim war hero status - it's a good war.

When ine war is in the Present - and it's being waged to keep the world safe(r) for democracy - it's a bad war.

You just gotta know the rules.

Rules subject to change without notice.

Shalom.
