March 24, 2004 -- DON Imus called CBS's Lesley Stahl a "gutless, lying weasel" yesterday for abruptly canceling an interview during which Imus planned to hammer her about conflict-of-interest allegations. "I realize it's a little late in your life, honey, to start gettin' honest, but just say 'I don't want to appear on the program . . . because I heard what he said earlier this morning,' " Imus railed.

"No wonder Fox [News Channel] is killing people - because people hate these people," said Imus.
Killing people?

If anyone from c.b.s. said the sky was blus I'd go check because I don't trust anything they say.read their initials - that alone should tell you every thing they report is 2/3 BS.

Wasn't there similar controvery at CBS just a few months ago over the Michael Jackson interview? As I recall, 60 minutes got an exclusive interview with MJ after he had been charged. It came out that before giving the interview CBS had to agree to air a MJ music special and pay big bucks to MJ. 60 Minutes claimed the two were not related and that 60 minutes never pays for interviews. Sure looked like a quid pro quo to me.

The Paul O'Neill book is the other one Hewitt did not reveal there was a relationship between CBS and the publisher.
Imus just asked Howard Fineman if he thought it believeable that it was an oversight on Hewitt's part. Fineman said, "Of course not!"

I had the unfortunate experience of hearing a couple minutes of the Idiot Man this morning. He was having a major fit that Condi had not testified - Bernie joined in.
They both KNOW that she testified behind closed doors.
Made me furious, I couldn't find the remote fast enough.

He did something right. Have you seen his wife? She is simply beautiful and smart as can be as well as very conservative. Imus has a great show going. He has everybody on,left, right, middle. One person he swears will never be on is Hillary Clinton. I believe him on that. He makes a great living bashing both of the Clintons.

We don't get her show here in ATL, but I had always been very impressed with her articles here and with any appearances I had caught on FNC.
If that fact is so, that takes her down 4-5 notches in my view.

she put up no defense of Condi Rice refusing to testify under oath to the 911 commission.
I'm sure this is covered down thread but she did testify privately and I don't think the public has any right to a public testimony.
Don't blow Imus off, I guess. I was watching one day and Chrissie Matthews was supposed to call in and he didn't call and Imus went ballistic and stayed that way for the rest of the show.

I love Laura Ingrams' remark. Something about " If Stahl didn't want to come on Imus, she could have just rolled over in bed and given the phone to Clarke".
Truer illustrations have never been articulated! I hadn't heard this brillant analogy from Laura. Thanks for the laugh.

I agree. I'm glad that one of our local radio groups with 6 stations locally, dumped ABC Radio News for the new Fox Radio. Each FREEPER needs to call more local radio groups and suggest a change too. It can't happen with some but many could change if the managers want to.

The same people take very "liberal" interpretations of the constitution and seem to think the whole document is "arcane" Simple shutup oneliner answer to that: "Could you explain, then, why the amendment process was included, if the document was intended to be 'interpreted' to fit contemporary values?"

"60 Minutes" executive producer Don Hewitt said the program should have disclosed the corporate connection but that leaving it out was merely an "oversight." Oversight? Wanna parse "is" next, Hewitt?
I think it's only fair that if 60 Minutes is going to turn into paid programming for Simon and Shuster, you should offer 20 minute segments to other companies as well. Put Andy Rooney on a Total Gym. Have Ed Bradley shill for OxyClean. It wouldn't much different from what you're doing already, and it would be far more intellectually honest and a lot less sleazy.

I stopped watching after I got sick of Fineman,Alter,David Gregory and Andrea Mitchell. He loves Mc Cain, too.Imus has alientated decent right-thinking individuals with his constant suckups to Kerry along with his pandering attitude toward kooky pundits whose mission in life is to spread Bush-hate.
Just because he does it under the guise of humor-comedy does not make it any more acceptable.
Imus now seems to be floundering around in an attempt to attact left-wing Democrat viewers because his ratings suck. Anyone who would diss their own principals just to try and get a boost in their own ratings does not deserve respect.
Bottom line. I can't listen to him anymore. Fortunately, the main talk station here in Philly, WPHT 1210AM, seemed to agree and took Imus off the air about eight months ago when he really started swimming in the Democrat-leaning poop-shoot.
