Lugar...said those proposals should include "realistic mechanisms through which illegal immigrants can regularize their status."

How about if illegal immigrants go back home and come here legally to "regularize their status", Dick?

Time for Cornyn to go. When he calls everyday American citizens "political extremists" because they want an end to the border run, he's not working for the best interests of our country!

A Dick by any other name is still a Dick.

Mexico's importance to U.S. national security

HUH?? Did anyone see Mexico rise up to help us after 9/11? The only area of Mexican expertise is in shipping their poverty to the USA.

"We are having to educate people in Congress and elsewhere," Cornyn told the Border Trade Alliance conference at the Watergate Hotel.

Apparently, most people are "educated enough" to know what a criminal illegal alien is. Personally, I have no desire to reap the "benefits" of Mr. Cornyn's brand of "education."

Cornyn, R-Texas, told border business leaders that changes to current laws face an uphill battle because "political extremists" dominate the debate.

I know what I'd like to tell Cornyn, McCain, and some other RINOs if I ever get the chance...

""It is bad policy, it is a mistake, to implement a program before we know how it is going to impact the economy," Cornyn said."

Wonder what he invests in?

""That is what we are risking if we implement US-VISIT on our border before we know what we are doing."

We've been risking alot more than just our economy with the open border madness.

What the hell is going on when a Republican Senator from Texas wants to protect his Mexican restaurant businesses along the border ahead of the national security and in the face of the economic destruction being inflicted upon California by unregulated immigration.

We don't need immigration reform, just enforcement of the existing regulations.

Bush administration officials told the border business leaders earlier this week that they would temporarily suspend enforcement of entry and exit checks at primary border inspection stations for laser visa holders.

I wonder if Bush would temporarily allow me to withdraw a couple million from the bank even tho my account is empty...Silly me, I thought only Congress could make/change laws...

I wrote my congressman and explained our personal hardships due to uncontrolled immigration in Los Angeles, my child has to attend a private school because the aptitude of the large immigrant student body is only 30% in standard testing compared to the nation, which forces us to live on less income, my kid cannot get a job as a teenager to make up the losses, teenage unemployment is as low as its been in 30 years, my mother was forced to sell her home and move in with us because she cannot live alone due to high crime in an immigrant neighborhood , my 25 mile commute to work is 1.5 hours way due to over crowed highways. I wanted to know why my family must sacrifice just so some business can receive low cost subsidized tax payer labor? Needles to say I received a letter in return from my congressman he also agreed that the visitor program was bad, but for the reason that it rewards law breakers while penalizing those immigrants who are trying to come here legally (as if we need them too)!

I'd support amnesty on four conditions.
1. End ALL Federal Welfare. PERIOD.
2. End Social Security, or at least make it optional.
3. Protect our borders for the future. 4. No more amnesties ever.

"We are struggling to get co-signers for your legislation," Vale said, citing confusion with the senator's guest worker proposal also floating in Congress.

This is why the House has to stay Republican. That's where the conservatives are and the only defense we have against those who would sell out their own daughters for a buck.
