[history]
Joshua Lipes, a 25-year-old paralegal who lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., says that when he wears his tattered Yuengling shirt with an eagle perching on a barrel of beer, people stop him on the street to tell him they've been to Pennsylvania and tried the brew.

Yuengling is very good beer. I drink it often.
(However, Black & Tan in one bottle is a waste.)

I had a tenth grade geography teacher berate me in front of the class when I pointed out to him that he neglected the "h" in writing Pittsburgh. He didn't believe me!
That was in public skool in Hollidaysburg, aka "Holldysburg".

Thanks for pointing out that it's in NC. I missed that in the article. We will be in the Outer Banks in five weeks for my son's wedding, and I'm gonna have a great time.
Definitely give it a try.

Yuengling is stellar beer, but this state's alcohol laws are arcane. Coming from Florida, I never understood them...you can't buy a 6-pack in a store, but can only buy a case....and you have to go to a beer store to get beer, and a liquor store to get liquor, but can't get liquor at a beer store or beer at a liquor store. Ugh.
To: ContemptofCourt
Yes, it is very confusing to outsiders. Most people who move to Kansas think the liquor laws here are arcane. Not if you come from PA.

I beleive that Pa's liquor laws are the 2d most strict behind only Utah. Interestingly, a few years ago a great uprising started in favor of privatizing liquor stores. The Pa Liquor Control Board hired some new guy to run the show, and he has a done a spectacular job of increasng the number of items in the stores, modernizing the stores, and reducing prices with bulk buying power. Also, liquor stores can now sell on Sunday.
I'd still rather have privatization, but I am also glad that PA is coming around somewhat.
