My sense is that the fix was in to get O'Neill off. How ironic that his book was entitled "The Price of Loyalty" since he seems to be a major beneficiary of unreciprocated loyalty.

What difference does it make if the documents were not properly labeled as classified if O'Neill turned them over to Suskind without having ever viewed them? As a former cabinet secretary charged with protecting classified information from unauthorized parties, O'Neill's actions strike me as highly irresponsible, if not treasonous. Many of those documents undoubtedly related to Treasury Department plans to find and shut down terrorist bank accounts. If O'Neill hasn't already heard, THIS NATION IS AT WAR!

Is there not a video of him holding a Top Secret document up for view?

He just released CDs of government documents without at least doing the most cursory of reviews?

But Bush didn't specifically speak to him in person and have such conversation taped and documented as proof that he couldn't publish and make a buck off sensitive government material. It's Bush's fault!

``This plan went awry,'' the report said, after word about government action was leaked to Global Relief, apparently when a Times reporter called a charity spokesman to ask whether he knew about a plan by the U.S. government to freeze its assets.
--- "U.S. Probes Alleged (NYT) Leak on Terror Probe," by CURT ANDERSON, Associated Press Writer, AP (via The Guardian), Friday September 10, 2004 11:16 PM

[* My note: Is it possible reporter Philip Shenon's source for his leak of US plans to freeze Global Relief's assets was former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Niell? ]

Teflon is the most famous non-stick material, but compared to slime and scum, it is almost adhesive.

O'Neil wasn't allowed to walk-he can't-slime can only be allowed to ooze.

Is anybody else getting just a bit tired of crap, after crap, after crap, after crap - with no punishment, no accountability of any kind?

Why do we put up with this stupid government, anyway, if it doesn't serve those it steals from, and flaunts the laws it imposes on us with impunity?
