MADRID, Spain (AP) -- Defiant despite a crushing election defeat, outgoing Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar said Monday he does not regret supporting the war in Iraq and criticized his successor's plan to withdraw Spanish troops.
Aznar's remarks were his first in public since the March 14 general election in which his conservative Popular Party crashed to surprise defeat amid charges that he had provoked the Madrid rail bombings three days earlier by backing the war. The attack killed 202 people and wounded more than 1,800.

"God bless you Jose Maria. History will show that you were right." ...and the people of Spain may come to regret their rash decision to oust him and his party and desire real soon to re-elect him back into office by any means necessary.
This other President has no experience and no clue how to deal with what he now has in his lap: a poisonous viper coiled to strike or a full-sized crocodile...and it's going to take Steve, "The Crocodile Hunter" to deal with it...or Jose Ansar that is...

Aznar is a man with a moral center, all too rare these days. He is also a man of courage who put his political career on the line in backing us up; he did it knowing full well it did not play well in the polls. He led, and he has paid the price.
And he still has more dignity than his opponents ever will.
