Hillary-friendly NBC newswoman Andrea Mitchell said Sunday that the former first lady is indeed interested in teaming up with Sen. John Kerry as his vice presidential running mate.

Dismissing the longshot prospect that Sen. John McCain might switch parties to run with Kerry, Mitchell told NBC's "Chris Matthews Show," "I think there's another long ball - Hillary."

"According to Republicans and Democrats on the Hill in the cloakrooms, she is interested in running," Mitchell insisted.

She suggested that Sen. Clinton is "doing what is necessary" right now to show proforma support for Kerry's presidential bid, but would take a much higher profile if she knew such an invitation was in the offing.

I never really felt that Andrea Mitchell was all that objective in her reporting. Now I know why. And she's just stirring the pot. There's no way that Hillary will be second to a man to get anywhere in life. She would never do that.

And about that meeting in 1971 of the Viet Nam Veterans Against the War where your organization planned the execution of several U.S. senators. I believe you failed to report that meeting to the F.B.I., Senator Kerry.
