Now look at the location of this firebase north of Jalalabad, south of Kunar province (another alleged hideout area, as reported in the CSMonitor last year).
So the US is not only watching the Khyber regions but also north of it. This province of Afghanistan where Nanagalm is (Nuristan?) borders the NWFP of Pakistan and is also very close to Pakistani Kashmir, technically not sovereign Pakistani territory.
