Ross Perot: The heroes' hero
Dallas Morning news ^

Posted on 03/20/2004 1:02:33 PM PST by luckystarmom

This is a very interesting article about H. Ross Perot.

He's definitely an interesting person. I think he definitely loves his country.

Here's an excerpt from the article:

"Ross Perot is known around the world as the folksy dynamo who founded a computer empire and ran for president in 1992 and 1996. His colorful criticism that NAFTA would produce a "giant sucking sound" of jobs being siphoned overseas echoes today.

When asked to write his own epitaph once, he answered: "Made more money faster. Lost more money in one day. Led the biggest jailbreak in history. He died. Footnote: The New York Times questioned whether he did the jailbreak or not."

Here's the link to the rest of the article:

Agree. It was Bush's election to lose.

I think he is a good man, but I'll agree that because of him we got Clinton.

The more I see this posted in replies the more my disdain for the man flourishes.

Bravo Bob, I agree.

I also blame Daddy Bush (much as I love his son) for handing it over to Bubba. Daddy just didn't run! I'll never forget him saying "I want to get back to the Grandpa business". But the bottom line is:

Ross PeeROT gave us 8 years of Komrade Klintoon, and now we have to deal with Chillary.

What Perot did to rescue his people from Iran is something that I will always respect.

The numbers of Independents are growing faster than either of the two party cabal.

When you have 100 votes and you add on 100 more fools you have a 100% increase that means less than a warm bucket of spit. When you have 50 million votes and you lose 100 moron voters to the constipation party you are still assured of 1st or 2nd place. The Reform party is a complete loss without Perot as the figurehead. It was a cult of personality as are all successful 3rd party candidacies. I don't mean successful as in actually ever winning...but successful in draining 5-20% of the vote away. Perot ranks right up there with Teddy Roosevelt, Robert LaFollette , and George Wallace. The Reform party has become a hollow shell like the Bull Moose, Progressive, and Wallace Party. Parties that form around ideologies like the constipation party or the libertarian party never succeed in winning anything because their ideology is abhorrent to 90% of the population.

but we'll take this country back.

The third parties never had this country.

Perot is an American Patriot, paranoid but a Rainmaker - he makes things happen. I read his unauthorized biography and a book about the personality of an entrepreneur in 1992. Perot possesses the traits of an entrepreneur and a natural born leader. It's a shame that his temperament was not suited to live in a fishbowl and be subjected to "nattering nabobs of negativism" in the liberal media.

George Herbert Walker Bush left the oil industry in the 60's because he couldn't stomach the troubles which were occurring on an offshore rig while safely sitting in an office in Houston, so he went into something less stressful - politics (loser). During his term as Vice President and later President of the United States, the U.S. Domestic Oil Industry was allowed to wither on the vine and die while Pappy Bush fiddled around like the mentally sick Emperor Nero doing absolutely nothing. Bush Sr. is one of the most inept and incompetent individuals who has ever occupied the White House and definitely not a conservative. Read his Lips, Bush Sr. has nobody to blame but himself. He was not fit to sit in that position (President) to begin with and should never have been elected.

I have voted for his son a total of three times (President George W. Bush), first as Governor of Texas, then President of the United States. The decision to remove Saddam Hussein was as a result of the stupidity of his father along with advice given by Joint Chief of Staff, Collin Powell in prematurely ending the first War against Iraq (if you are going to strike at a King, you have to kill him).

The sins of the father were placed upon the son to deal with.

Perot, who dropped out of the 1992 Presidential campaign because he said he was afraid that George H W Bush was going to sabotage his daughter's wedding, and then later rejoined the campaign, is just a rich nut case.

Bush Sr. lost that election. He only has himself to blame. Do you credit Nader for giving us Bush, Jr.?

The "Ross Perot gave us Bill Clinton" crowd is too simplistic in their thinkiing. The MEDIA gave us clintoon. Ross Perot gave us lasting discussion about balances budget which led to the Republican takeover in congress.

Now if the bastards would CUT some actual waste in govt spending, we would have a balanced budget again.

Thank your buddy Ross for his excellent adventure with his "folksie" little innocence and an ulterior motive of a snake.

Ross Perot would have made a poor president because unlike a CEO a President has to deal with co-equal branches of govt. Perot would not have been able to understand this point. A president cajoles - that is his function. Perot as a business man was used to barking orders and getting things done his way or the highway. While we admire that in CEOs and generals - we do not trust such merits much for politicians - as it should be. You also need to be stable-rock like as president. Emotionalistic responses are not a good thing for a man that controls such military power Perot always seemed to be in a pissed off PMS like state.

well why don't you tell me what happened when Ross dropped out...hmmmm? and why did he return... huh? did the shrinking poll numbers have anything to do with it? Hmmmmmm? Mr K you'll just have to live with you Perot vote..it really was a Bubba vote. Trying to rationalize your conscience is admirable but only a futile attempt at self delusion.

Ross Perot sent a job warning to Bush I. Since then we hear the mantra, 'Perot gave us Clinton'. Actually Bush I, ignored the economy and gave us Perot. Bush II is lucky there is no Perot or Buchanan today. It is still 'the economy, stupid'.
