Carbon dioxide, the gas largely blamed for global warming, has reached record-high levels in the atmosphere after growing at an accelerated pace in the past year, say scientists monitoring the sky from this 2-mile-high station atop a Hawaiian volcano.
Carbon dioxide, mostly from burning of coal, gasoline and other fossil fuels, traps heat that otherwise would radiate into space. Global temperatures increased by about 1 degree Fahrenheit (0.6 degrees Celsius) during the 20th century, and international panels of scientists sponsored by world governments have concluded that most of the warming probably was due to greenhouse gases.

Mine lasted 12 years until I lent it to my sister who killed it in 6 months.
Pity.

Don't forget that at night (without light) plants also "breathe" oxygen and produce carbon dioxide.

Alcohol ...isn't a fossil fuel. It can be. But total economic "yield" from a barrel aside, "Cracked from North Sea light crude" doesn't quite have the same
marketing cachet as "Made from potatoes".
Oh, and those fermenting fruits and veggies give off a bit of CO2 too.

Somebody do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just turned up the heat and put another blanket on the bed, that counts as something. It is flipping freezing here. It snowed two days ago.

I'm glad you're a troll.
Here, I have a song for you, and I'll be meeting you later in the back 40 of FR for a party in the treeline.
When you get there, prepare to eat dirt.
Your song to ponder for later:
Adema - Immortal
From the album "Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance Soundtrack"
LET'S FIIIIIIIGHT!
We're face to face
Loyalty is what I need to see from you
You're insecure
I can see the fear that breeds in your heart
Where will you run?
Where will you hide?
I see the blood
Drip from your eyes
Who will survive?
Let's get it on
And we'll fight!
I know who you are
The leader of lost souls
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
I'm not afraid to die
My soul will travel on
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
Immortal
Immortal
I need the rush
there's nowhere you can hide before you die
Why won't you face me?
I can see the fear that's in your eyes
Where will you run?
Where will you hide?
I see the blood
Drip from your eyes
Who will survive?
Let's get it on
And we'll fight!
I know who you are
The leader of lost souls
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
I'm not afraid to die
My soul will travel on
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
I know who you are
The leader of lost souls
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
I'm not afraid to die
My soul will travel on
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
Where will you run?
Where will you hide?
Where will you run?
Where will you hide?
Let's fight!
I know who you are
The leader of lost souls
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
I'm not afraid to die
My soul will travel on
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
I know who you are
The leader of lost souls
You can't kill me
I'm immortal
I'm not afraid to die
My soul will travel on
You can't kill me

You can't kill me
Immortal!
You can't kill me
Immortal!
You can't kill me

Actually, I have heard, although I can't cite, that the Amazon rain forest growth rate has actually increased because of CO2.

Alas saddam isn't active anymore, knocking off 1000's of Iraqis ad thus reducing CO² emissions in that part of the world. Maybe the wacko/libs in their panic will consider jmpng off tall buildings before this thing kills them, thus helping to reduce this awful emission.

CO2 is not at "record" levels. Throughout most of the past 600 million years, CO2 levels were far higher... up to 16x current levels. The long term trend (over geologic time) is down. Most of the C02 has been sequestered as calcium carbonate in vast limestone deposits, not in fossil fuels.
Now here's an interesting quote from this article.
"Asked to explain the stepped-up rate, climatologists were cautious, saying data needed to be further evaluated. But Asia immediately sprang to mind. "China is taking off economically and burning a lot of fuel. India, too," said Pieter Tans, a prominent carbon-cycle expert at NOAA's Boulder lab.
This is why Kyoto was worthless in containing CO2 growth. China and India had no restrictions at all. Kyoto was merely a scheme to damage the US economy and ship energy-intensive industry to places like China and India.

I'm glad to know the President says global warming is unproven and the record tempartures we've been experiencing the past few weeks are a natural phenomenon. Those warm temperatures you have been experiencing lately is called "spring." It always happens right after what is called "winter." I'm surprised you aren't aware of this. Though perhaps you are too frightened at night worrying that the sun won't come up in the morning to think about it too much.
