Absolutely the best "analysis" of why this election will be a walk.

"We hate snobs."
Yup. That's why I wish the Kerry cursing out a secret service agent on the ski slopes was getting more airplay. Even Rush Limbaugh seems to have dismissed it. He mentioned it but didn't really hammer him.

Made the mistake of reading Dowds column and, to put it charitably, what the hell's the matter with that woman? Isn't she ever embarrassed by anything she writes? I've never read such sophomoric drivel in my life. And she does this crap for money? That column will be a real asset for "The Snob."

," and we're certainly not going to elect a man who electrifies Maureen Dowd. I am sure that Dowd gets "electrified" on occasion but it is powered by triple A batteries and not a man.

Agreed. The Baron John F. Munchausen is not only a snob, he's also a screw-up. He doesn't connect to folks in flyover country.

I have a bad feeling that if we hit Senator Munchausen too hard, too fast, we might end up with a Democratic ticket topped by the Wicked Witch of the East.
To: zarf
A couple of things: First, this thing ain't over yet. An awful act of terrorism here on our shores, $3 a gallon gas or an otherwise crappy economy could revive the seemingly moribund Senator Kerry. Secondly, you don't want Kerry to assume room temperature until sometime after Labor Day, too late for the very imaginative and conniving dems to regroup.

For all their egalitarian rhetoric and "championing of the little man", the Left is elitist.
Leftists see themselves as Ubermenschen who, because of their moral and intellectual superiority, have undertaken the protection of the inferior--intellectually and otherwise--Untermenschen peasants.
Some "Liberals" actually believe this.
Others, of course, are exploitive psychopaths who know exactly what they're up to.
In either case, "Liberals" tend to be snobs who love aristocracy. Not only do they see themselves as aristocrats--or Ubermenschen--but aristocracy seems to lend ligitimacy to their pretentions. Furthermore, it must not be forgotten, that class envy and a craving for revenge are one of the driving forces behind Leftist indifference and cruelty.
One thing that really sticks in the "Liberal" craw is the fact that George Bush is an authentic aristocrat--and that he has chosen to be one of the people.
The Left really hates that.

No it won't. I keep posting this thought on various threads. The dems will stop at nothing - repeat:nothing to win this. They know they have the mediawhores to do their dirty work. The 30 year old DWI that by a cosmic coincidence surfaced days before the '00 election? That's nothing compared to what they'll do this time. --Not that they have anything on W. The dem-media smear machine has bees desparately searching for 4 years now for dirt on W and all they come up with is a 30 year old DWI. SO W is clean. But that doesn't mean they won't just fabricate it. The Wednesday before the election some dem puppet says Bush --fill in whatever vicious outlandish charge here -- and the mediawhore go wall-to-wall with round the clock "coverage". Polls instantly appear to support their propaganda. When - a week after the election, it becomes very clear it was all a fabricated lie--the damage is done, the election is over, and everyone forgets about it. And don't expect the media to say so much as "shame-shame" to the demholes.

Personally, I thought Kerry's demise began when folks started saying he looked French.

"Dowd gloried in the "vast palette of cultural preferences" that paint the Kerry persona. Why, he not only reads Keats and Shelley and T.S. Eliot, he writes his own verse on the "barren desolation of the desert." That of course is when he's not in "his Fellini stage" or gracefully plucking Segovia on his classical guitar. Of course, sometimes Kerry slips into manly moments of Hemingway, but Dowd reassures us he's no "simple brush-clearing, ESPN watching fellow" - an oh-so-cunning clever to the guy in the White House." AARRRGGGHHHH!! it's enough to make ya puke!
To: zarf
The 'Rats are trying to get pictures of Kerry snowboarding, looking athletic and vital, on the front page of every newspaper in the country. It is the Pubbies job to make sure that when people see those pictures they think,
"a$$hole!" Fortunately, Kerry is giving the Pubbies a lot of help in this department.
