THREE CHEERS FOR OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS, THEIR ALLIES, AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING IN SUPPORT CAPACITIES IN THE WAR ON TERROR! YOU HAVE GIVEN THIS NATION A YEAR OF VICTORY IN THAT WAR! The honor is yours, but know that we bask in your accomplishments and love you for your steadfast service on this day!
Welcome, everyone to the 10th Troop Prayer Thread! Today is the anniversary of the resumption of hostilities with Iraq, wherein our troops have made military history that shall ring down the centuries.
The troop prayer threads are dedicated to giving our troops, allies, and all who are serving the Holy Cause of Freedom, including (but not limited to) the families and loved ones waiting at home and those who are not in uniform but who are serving in dangerous situations supporting our troops and gathering intelligence spiritual support. We seek together to offer prayer, scriptures, encouraging messages, and other devotions dedicated to this purpose.
We have over the past year gathered together a prayer list of these servants of freedom. You will find it posted below. FReeper amom has been serving as our List Keeper this past year and I wish to thank and commend her for doing such a meticulous job of keeping it updated. She has also been keeping our ping list up to date. If you wish to submit a name for the prayer list or to add or take off a name from the ping list, please let either or both of us know.
For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, or still have phone modems, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.
Thank you so much for spiritually supporting our troops, allies, support civilians, and their families.
We are grateful to God that for those who have been injured or taken back Home, He has dispatched angels to their care.

Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me remember
Somewhere out there
A man died for me today
--As long as there be war
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?"
Taken from the book, "A Man Called Intrepid" by William Stevenson about William Stephenson, the head of British intelligence services prior to and during WWII. He wrote this at the very beginnings of the Battle of Britain and shared it with Eleanor Roosevelt.
STAR SPANGELED BANNER
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

URGENT PRAYERS NEEDED FOR ONE OF OUR HEROES

Merciful Father In Heaven,
Please accept our prayers and praise this day. We place before you with humble expectancy for your mercy, protection and grace, the lives of all our precious soldiers, marines, sailors, airmen, and coast guarders. We especially in this hour lift up RepubMommy's brother leaving for Iraq on Wednesday, Benjamin, his lar team, wife Terri-lynn and the new baby coming. We hold up to you Freeper Rander7 and son. Place your attention and care into the life of Maj Tammy Duckworth.
We thank you for holding them in your heart and for those who have been wounded, we thank you for letting them remain with us for a longer time. Guide them through the rehabilition and healing process at all levels, body, mind, soul, and spirit. Guide their medical professionals and their families to know the exact support they need at any given moment.
Father, we call forth your healing touch and your intercession. Help all of these who have placed themselves in our name 'between their loved homes and the war's desolation.' Help all of them bear the duties and the burdens which are now theirs to bear. Protect them, heal them, guide them, and guard them. Comfort them and give all of them strength and courage for what is to come. Please convey to all of them the gratitude we feel. We acknowledge, Lord, that it isnt enough, but please let them know that we love them and support their service. Father, grant them blessings without limit.
We ask that you will surround their families and loved ones. For those who hold vigil for one who is in battle, grant them faith, peace, strength and courage. For those who hold vigil for one who has sustained wounds, grant them wisdom, infinite patience, insight, strength, and faith.
This which we have called forth for those named above, we call forth for any and all who are in a similar situation.
We glorify you for being our loving and caring Father. In gratitude and awe we approach you also as our magnificent all-powerful God, worthy of all praise. We commend these precious young people into your care and keeping. Wrap around them the swaddling blankets of our prayers and your love. Let your divine and perfect Will be done in all things.
In the Name of the One Sent,
Amen

Bring them safely home to their loved ones.Watch over those who are wounded and need healing..We pray that You strengthen and comfort them,Lord. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
TEXOKIE,
I just want to tell you how much this thread means to me. It is so awesome to see the prayers and support for our military from everyone here. I have just finished catching up on the stories, prayers and links of the past two week
(Casy, Jordan, Repub Mommmy's brother, Tammy et al) and will be praying in earnest for all mentioned.
Lt. Col Jacko is still sending updates and pictures daily of all the amazing (and sad) things happening in Iraq. Margaret Hassan's death hit her very hard. I know she is privy to operations and that we actually do look for these hostages when they are taken and attempt to rescue them.
We always seem to be one step behind Zarqawi and he is now gone from Fallujah, deserting his followers like a coward and running somewhere else. My earnest prayer is that we catch him soon.
A friend and I have sent off a total off 11 boxes to Sharon and a Major friend of hers in Irbil to distribute. They are in need of things in Irbil (tiny camp store with little in it). Some members of our church helped donate.
I still have stuff left over (about 4 boxes worth) and would like to send to someone in Fallujah or elsewhere but need names. If anyone knows someone I could send some things to could you please FR mail me?
Take care. Our God is awesome and our troops and all here are amazing. I'm so proud to be able to come to this thread
with all of you.
Amen, potlatch. I join in your prayers for Tammy's arm.
Thank you for holding vigil for our troops.
You are welcome, for the prayer, MEG33. Glory to God! Thank you for all your prayers for our troops.
Thank you for your prayers, AG.
You are welcome for the prayer, alpha. It is an honor for all of us here to pray for Benj and his loved ones. Please give all our love to him and his family. God bless you too in all things.
Thank you for your prayers, Peach.
Heartfult amen, MEG33.
Thank you for leading us in prayer.
