"I feel like I'm being set up," he told editors at the newspaper on Thursday.
No, your articles were "set up." You'll probably be "let go."

As the article makes clear, Kelley's a pretty big name in journalism. A bigger story than Jason Blair, or should be.

What a great career move! If he follows the Jayson Blair example, next will come a book deal and various public appearances. Honest objective journalism is so boring and old fashioned.

I began to have my doubts about him when he wrote that story about space aliens stealing all of the cheese in Milan.

Does this admission place him in contention with Jayson Blair for a Nobel Prize for journalism?
To: VadeRetro
Jayson Blair's already got the "whitey made me do it" excuse copyrighted, so what's Kelley going to use?

Not journalism, but he's in the running for the Fiction prize.

Anybody have any other info on this guy? His political leanings, the issues he likes to write about? Just curious.

This story is of interest to Israelphiles because Kelley is the fellow who wrote a story about Jewish terrorists taking revenge on Palestinians - a story that IMRA was unable to verify. One of the stories questioned was about a Jewish vigilante:
The newspaper also said "the evidence strongly contradicted" other published accounts by Kelley: that he spent the night with Egyptian terrorists in 1997; met a vigilante Jewish settler named Avi Shapiro in 2001; ...
