Just heard this breaking on FOX. I know Mansoor is considered to be a good source.

That might be fun to watch.

I like that word. Extract

Me, too. It also implies the use of a tool- and to my mind tools of extraction tend to be shiny and stainless steel.

Although the extra intel would be a boon, it would be simpler to bring him out dead. Then you don't have to worry about "rights" and "humane treatment" and "fair trials" and such.

Ijaz said osama and al Zawahiri were both in Iran.

Snip- Both al-Qaida leaders are disguised, Ijaz said. Bin Laden, has shaved his head bald and is wearing a shorter beard that is dyed to make him look more like an Iranian cleric. He also has put on a considerable amount of weight.

Al-Zawahiri has done something similar, Ijaz said, and is now wearing a black turban and dyed beard instead of the traditional white turban he wore as an Egyptian cleric.

Like you, I would like to believe Ijaz, but his batting average is pretty poor.

Agreed. Mansoor Ijaz reminds me of Geraldo Rivera. Self-promoting, egotist; he is a legend in his own mind.

Mansoor Ijaz

Democrat former Clintonista, Muslim, post WASP new-breed Council on Foreign Relations member, "connected".

Some days you'd like to think he actually has the skinny on what is going on over there, but when one looks at his pedigree, and track record one wonders what there was to trust there in the first place. He seems to have the same predictive skills of Dick Morris. Maybe he writes material for Dick.

Says now that OBL is in Iran as of last weekend.

Maybe, maybe not.

I get the feeling that he plays both sides. Admittedly well-spoken but still just another Khyber Pass muslim goat trader at heart, a sherpa in Democrat drag.

Couple days ago, I saw a story
that Iran claimed they caught the top Iraq terror dude & wanted to
negotiate a handover.

Did you see it?

Maybe Mansoor Ijaz is Al-Zawahiri in disguise

Yep, agreed.

The media enablers can try to minimize this all they want. They know it's huge. Will be interesting to see how they handle it. Dems are already weepy-eyed

I wasn't giving this story any credence until I saw CNN and MSNBC lining their programing with guests that repeated the mantra of "it's no big deal" and "nothing will change if we capture al-Zawahri "

The media is going into full spin that this guy is just another dime a dozen terrorist, no biggie.

The mantra had been harping on the fact that al-Qaida leadership had not been caught. Now that the rumor is indeed one has been caught they are spinning it the other way. If it wasn't true they wouldn't be spinning the other side so hard.

The Democrats are scared to death that this capture may be reality. Here is what Kerry had to say about it yesterday.

The rumored news yesterday that Pakistan had surrounded al-Qaeda No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri recalls accusations that the administration had "failed" to capture Osama bin Laden, or alternatively, had him and would announce it closer to the election. At this level, terror has become an abstraction serving the perceived realities of politics.

Thank you for digging up an great example of Ijaz's wisdom. He's the lost Pakistani son of Jeanne Dixon, essentially predicting enough things that eventually one will come true. He's just a busy body with a trust fund. Eventually some AQ mullet is going to pop him in a fancy restaurant in London, and then we will be spared his drivel. I will miss his Clark Gable mustache.

You know CNN was in panic mode when they trotted out Joe Conason for his expert advice on the possible capture of Al Ja'whatshisname.

I'm sure al Qairi's sophisticated postmodern analysis will go over well in the heartland.

Ijaz said osama and al Zawahiri were both in Iran.

And they may have been. I don't think these guys keep a permanent address. Would not surprise me if they have been criss-crossing borders & territories on a rather regular basis. That said, I do think the Ijaz is working w/ the Pentagon & is willingly used for disinformation purposes.

Nah, I think that Ijaz just has some sources that are lying to him and he can't believe it. He had some pretty good information during the Afghanistan war and I think his sources probably didn't like being used. So now they are using him to dispense disinformation.
