The trick is to fly dozens of aircraft in quickly. Many will be shot down and once landed casualties among the troops would be high, but since when have the Chicoms cared about that?

Dozens of aircraft are going to carry enough troops to seize the fortified island of Taiwan from determined defenders before they run out of supply? Don't think so.

Taiwan President Shot, in Hospital

TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian and Vice President Annette Lu were in hospital after being shot on the campaign trail on Friday, television reports and a lawmaker accompanying them said.

Chen was rushed to hospital in the southern city of Tainan, a presidential official said. TVBS Television said he was wounded in the stomach. Vice President Annette Lu was shot in the leg, Wang Hsin-nan, a lawmaker from Chen's Democratic Progressive Party told TVBS.

"The bullet hit the vice president in the knee first, then the president," Wang said. Chen had sustained a deep 14 inch wound across the stomach, said Wang, who was traveling in the president's motorcade in southern Tainan.

It may have been heavily fortified at one time, but its nothing like it was before. After martial law finally ended you hardly ever see soldiers around anymore
