Well, Bush is certainly facing challenges, especially if you consider the polls in States Bush needs to win. But to chide Bush on the price of gas is strange.

There are a number of reasons for the higher prices .. taxes on gas and the EPA rules on summer/fall gases and the lack of new refineries are a couple

I think O'Reilly knows that Bush is going to get these gas prices lowered but is jumping the gun to make it look as though it was his doings.

Yes, but my point is that is is very easy to point out that the Dems are obstructionist (and illogically so) when it comes to reducing US dependence on foreign oil. There are certainly other things Bush can do, as far as pressuring OPEC to increase production, rather than cut it. But Bush's (and Cheney's) close ties to the oil industry make it very important that Bush be seen as engaged in trying to lower the price of oil.
