Letter to McCain Regarding His DEFENSE of KERRY
self | 3/18/04 | self

Posted on 03/18/2004 6:57:52 AM PST by Moby Grape

I have sent a letter to McCain's Washington and Arizona offices (for what good it will do with this guy). I borrowed some facts from another post (thanks).

I encourage all freepers to inform McCain of the damage he is doing defending Kerry.

Fax: 202-228-2862 / 602-952-8702

Senator John McCain United State Senate Washington, DC

18 March 2004

Dear Senator McCain:

I have read quotes of comments you made this morning on the Today Show while being interviewed by Matt Lauer, and I wish to disagree with your contention that John Kerry is not weak on defense.

History has shown that you are not receptive to criticism, and you will most likely dismiss any questioning of your reasoning for defending Mr. Kerry regarding his record on defense. However, I am hopeful that someone in your office will take note of the great error on your part.

Leaving aside Mr. Kerry’s disgraceful testimony before Congress in the early 70’s in which he accused United States military personnel of being war criminals in Vietnam, let’s go to the RECORD. Public RECORD.

Kerry ran for the senate in 1984 vowing to CANCEL the B-1 bomber, B-2 stealth bomber, AH-64 Apache helicopter, F-15 fighter, and the AV-8 Harrier.

In 1984, Kerry campaigned AGAINST the Patriot, Aegis, and Trident missile programs.

Between 1985 and 1994, Kerry voted 38 times to CUT the defense budget.

Between 1990 and 1996, Kerry voted 12 times against military pay increases.

In 1993, Kerry introduced a plan to cut the number of submarines, light infantry units, fighter wings, and to terminate the Nave mine-hunting ship program.

In 1994, Kerry voted CUT the intelligence budget by $6 billion over four years.

In 1995, Kerry again tried to CUT the intelligence budget, by introducing a bill to CUT $300 million per year through year 2000.

In 2002, Kerry first voted AGAINST creation of Homeland Security Department, putting his allegiance to unions who opposed private security workers BEFORE the safety of the nation. Once his union buddies were happy, he then voted for PROTECTING America.

In 2003, Kerry SKIPPED the vote for $29 billion Homeland Security Funding.

In the first Gulf War, Kerry was one of only 12 SENATORS who voted NOT to expel the murderous thug Saddam from Kuwait.

With the PUBLIC record outlined above, how could you possibly tell Matt Lauer (and thus the world, the democrat propaganda machines, our enemies, and our PRESIDENT), that Kerry is not soft on defense? What alternate universe are you living in?

With the United States in great peril from terrorism, you HELP a candidate who has shown that he does not have the right stuff to take a stand against our enemies.

There is only one consistency with Kerry with regard to defense. If the occupant of the White House is a democrat, he is pro-war. If the occupant of the White House is a republican, he is anti-war. He cares about DEMOCRATS before COUNTRY.

It is past time that John McCain were less concerned with getting face time on television with his admiring liberal media friends, and spent more time making an HONEST examination of the danger to this nation a Kerry presidency would bring.

the issue is that McCain has handed to the democrats a "testimony" by a "republican' (so-called) that will serve to UNDERMINE the GOP efforts to PROVE that Kerry is a flip-flop liar who is weak on defense.

And how is that any different than Zell Miller campaigning for Bush and thereby providing "testimony" by a "democrat" (so-called) that will serve to undermine Democrat efforts?

This is typical run-of-the-mill politics, so don't act so outraged. McCain has never liked Bush, and he's good friends with Kerry, so he's going to come out with statements like this. If this is all McCain does, it's no big deal.

The thing for you to really be worried about is Kerry's VP slot. I'm convinced there remains a significant possibility that McCain will accept an offer to become the Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee. Such a "fusion" ticket would pose a major threat to Bush's re-election prospects.

Maybe McCain is a Manchurian candidate? Others have stated that Kerry's VVAW testimony was played to prisoners in the Hanoi Hilton. McCain sometimes acts like he is seriously unbalanced.

You don't get it (in my view). How is it different? EVERY DAMN MEDIA OUTLET in the world will USE this from now to election...only you, me, and a few hundred thousand FREEPERS who watch Fox know about ZELL...ZELL will NOT be broadcast by the media wall to wall until election.

I do not believe you understand the damage McCain is doing.

McCain's ego constantly gets in the way of his rational thinking. Kerry knows this and is using it. Someone needs to tell McCain that Kerry is playing him for a fool. In the mean time we need to find the tape of that interview on FOX and keep playing it everytime the Kerry camp drags out McCain.

The letter is way too polite. Perhaps a strong stand on how he has made himself look petty and smallminded.

I think kerry is engaged in a backhanded compliment mode towards Bush.

He is sniping like a sore looser over 2000.

so petty. so small.

This is going to be a full contact election. McCain better get with the program.

McCain is simply a low life, always has been, always will be.

Every single thing he got in life is tainted by influence from family, and/or opportunism.

He must wonder about that in private moments.

The North Vietnamese cost this McCain his teeth, and evidently some part of his brain.

He has said in other venues that Kerry's treasonous rotomontade on retun from VN caused their captors to torture his fellow POW's, and him, with more than their usual enthusiasm.

He is enjoying his "Contrary Voice of the Republicans" status with the leftmedia a great deal more than a rational man would.
