I have sent a letter to McCain's Washington and Arizona offices (for what good it will do with this guy). I borrowed some facts from another post (thanks).
I encourage all freepers to inform McCain of the damage he is doing defending Kerry.
Fax: 202-228-2862 / 602-952-8702
Senator John McCain United State Senate Washington, DC
18 March 2004
Dear Senator McCain:
I have read quotes of comments you made this morning on the Today Show while being interviewed by Matt Lauer, and I wish to disagree with your contention that John Kerry is not weak on defense.
History has shown that you are not receptive to criticism, and you will most likely dismiss any questioning of your reasoning for defending Mr. Kerry regarding his record on defense. However, I am hopeful that someone in your office will take note of the great error on your part.
Leaving aside Mr. Kerrys disgraceful testimony before Congress in the early 70s in which he accused United States military personnel of being war criminals in Vietnam, lets go to the RECORD. Public RECORD.
Kerry ran for the senate in 1984 vowing to CANCEL the B-1 bomber, B-2 stealth bomber, AH-64 Apache helicopter, F-15 fighter, and the AV-8 Harrier.
In 1984, Kerry campaigned AGAINST the Patriot, Aegis, and Trident missile programs.
Between 1985 and 1994, Kerry voted 38 times to CUT the defense budget.
Between 1990 and 1996, Kerry voted 12 times against military pay increases.
In 1993, Kerry introduced a plan to cut the number of submarines, light infantry units, fighter wings, and to terminate the Nave mine-hunting ship program.
In 1994, Kerry voted CUT the intelligence budget by $6 billion over four years.
In 1995, Kerry again tried to CUT the intelligence budget, by introducing a bill to CUT $300 million per year through year 2000.
In 2002, Kerry first voted AGAINST creation of Homeland Security Department, putting his allegiance to unions who opposed private security workers BEFORE the safety of the nation. Once his union buddies were happy, he then voted for PROTECTING America.
In 2003, Kerry SKIPPED the vote for $29 billion Homeland Security Funding.
In the first Gulf War, Kerry was one of only 12 SENATORS who voted NOT to expel the murderous thug Saddam from Kuwait.
With the PUBLIC record outlined above, how could you possibly tell Matt Lauer (and thus the world, the democrat propaganda machines, our enemies, and our PRESIDENT), that Kerry is not soft on defense? What alternate universe are you living in?
With the United States in great peril from terrorism, you HELP a candidate who has shown that he does not have the right stuff to take a stand against our enemies.
There is only one consistency with Kerry with regard to defense. If the occupant of the White House is a democrat, he is pro-war. If the occupant of the White House is a republican, he is anti-war. He cares about DEMOCRATS before COUNTRY.
It is past time that John McCain were less concerned with getting face time on television with his admiring liberal media friends, and spent more time making an HONEST examination of the danger to this nation a Kerry presidency would bring.

I think I disliked McCain more in the last election than Gore.

I second your comments on McCain and I detest Kerry more than Clinton-Gore put together. All Kerry needs to do is add Hillary to his ticket and IMO we will have the worst ticket ever. John McCain might as well be Kerry's campaign manager!

McCain is just promoting and enjoying his celebrity status with his cronies at NBC. He just can't bear being left out.

my comment in an email to the RSNC...."the silence of republican senators is deafenning! while our troops are fighting abroad and grass roots folks are taking a stand, where are the republican senators? not a peep in support of the pres. not a peep of outrage at the democrats for their wild accusations! perhaps the so called RSNC should change its name to the MONICA LEWINSKY BRIGADE..."

It is FAR more dangerous than just McCain's ego...his stupdity in saying that Kerry is NOT weak on defense matters will possibly HELP elect Kerry....
To: Impeach the Boy
How will McCain be able to separate himself from Flip-Flop? By affiliating himself with a sinking shop, McCain is destined to go down with it. I hope it plays out this way.

The flip flop is not the issue...the issue is that McCain has handed to the democrats a "testimony" by a "republican' (so-called) that will serve to UNDERMINE the GOP efforts to PROVE that Kerry is a flip-flop liar who is weak on defense. McCain will BE in their TV ADS.
To: Impeach the Boy
What?! McCain in Kerry's tv ads? Good one. I still don't think the general populace will buy it, especially if he shows such blatant support. I think the Dems think it's a big coup but their perspective is so totally out of focus...just my thoughts.

I disagree...the main stream media tonight will show McCain saying that Chenny and Bush are WRONG about Kerry being weak on defense...this will become a CENTER PIECE for them. I did not say McCain will choose to be in dem ads, but that what McCain has said will be used in ads...the the media will make sure that the uninformed mushy middle will hear about this from now to election day.
To: Impeach the Boy
How about McCain talking about liberals who go overseas deliberately to undermine the war effort? and contribute to our soldiers being killer by emboldening the murderers.

McCain - is a self-rightous, elitist and arrogant jerk. How do I know this because I have met and talked to him face to face. He belieives that everything he spouts is divine from his god and that the rest of us are just idiots. I can not stand that this guy is from my state. He stands all of about 5'6" and has some serious napolean syndrome.

Ask McCain how he could support Kerry after stating (on FOX)that Kerry's anti-war activities were used to taunt him and other POW's that were imprisoned at the Hanoi Hilton.
Keep reminding everyone of McCain's earlier statements.

Perhaps McCain agrees with Kerry on wishing to cut the military and demoralize the troops.

MCain does not wish to cut the military...McCain will vote pro-defense, but he loves getting his face in front of a camera so much that he does harm to the mititary by giving the media whores what they wanted....a republican undermining Chenny.
