"Saying that the Spanish people played right into the hands of the terrorists is not insulting them, it's simply a statement of fact."
Remember, only a little over half the "Spanish people" who voted, voted for their new president. Don't over react because then it will be you who is "playing right into the hands of the terrorists". They want nothing more than to drive a wedge between their enemies.
Make no mistake, Spain and the US, along with the rest of the civilized world, are all enemies of the terrorists. We must cooperate even if we don't like each other.

"I have a limited supply of bridges to sell any Americans who believe Abu's gang are "very keen" supporters of Pres Bush."
They don't like Bush, but they do hope he will do something drastic in order to unify the Islamic world behind them. These guys don't want to be marginal terrorists all their lives. They imagine themselves as generals leading God's army against the infidels.
The only way that will happen is if they can provoke us into doing something major in order to unite the Muslims. Bombing Mecca would probably do it. Don't be surprised if they bomb Mecca themselves, and then blame Bush, in order to further their goals.

Their silence speaks volumes of support already.
Your thoughts are right on the money.

Spain IS NOT our ENEMY. But it's not a friend. Their previous government support of US was unpopular. Even without bombing the elections probably would go socialist.
What makes it victory for terrorists is the cause and effect of bombing that is obvious for any observer. Terrorism routes are in its success. This success will bread more terror.

Iraq and Afghanistan quickly taken, and Libya capitulating as a result.
Spain "overthrown" in a weekend, and Italy capitulating as a result.
It's a close game, and they're going for the tie.
