I wonder what his constituents think about him making remarks that basically defend Kerry's defense record. The issue has just been what the RNC and Bush administration decided to focus on to contrast the two candidates. I'd like to know what they have to say about McCain's foot-in-mouth problem too. It's like he's deliberately trying to thwart their efforts.

I just called McCain's office and asked the girl who answered the phone if she could point to any comments by the Senator when ten democrats were out there attacking the president every day for months.

She said McCain had made NO comments regarding those attacks.....that she knew of.

Told her that it was strange that he would now be complaining about negative campaigning on BOTH sides.

I will be the first to admit that McCain ought to shut his damned mouth, and that only his gigantic ego and hatred for Bush is propelling this nonsense.

Having said that, his stupid remarks do offer some advantages:

1. It lulls the RATS and the media into thinking that Kerry isn't weak on defense, and that our television ads won't trump any innoculation that Kerry can try to use with McCain. It won't wash. Ads will always work over Kerry hiding under John McCain's skirt.

2. McCain can be told, if he doesn't shut his damned mouth, no speaking role at the convention. None. Enough is enough. No national platform. Period. We don't need him.

3. It may be that we can sacrifice McCain's Senate seat and still hold the majority. This is going to really start angering the GOP apparatus in AZ. McCain's re-election is likely, but not a guarantee.
