I don't really expect Kerry to actually offer the VP slot to McCain, but it still remains very helpful to Kerry to have McCain's name out there, helping to moderate Kerry's image and sow dissension amongst Republicans.
McCain had a good opportunity this morning to clear the air. He could have simply said "I will not accept an offer to run as Kerry's VP, wouldn't run if nominated, wouldn't serve if elected." He did anything but.

A Senator covets power, over conviction?
You're joking!

I was watching the "CBS Morning Show" and saw clips of their interview with McCain. Here's exactly what he said on CBS:
I do not want to be vice president.
I do not want to leave the Republican party.
I will not run as vice president on either ticket.
Could McCain "nuance" himself out of these statements - of course! IMHO, McCain always gets more arrogant and contrary the longer an interview goes on. The other day on Imus, he started strong, then grew more bitter as Imus flattered.

barf city!!! Salon.com's Sidney Blumenthal on FOXNews . Up against a geezer Malek, who was director of republican convention way back in 1988.
Malek does a credible job listing out Kerry's flips and flops on defense.
Blumenthal says people haven't paid attention that Kerry asked new Spainish Prime Minister not to withdraw his troops in Iraq. Blumenthal belittles the importance of Cheney's attacks on Kerry, Blumenthal says Cheney is very unpopular, polarizing figure, not trusted, and what he says about Kerry is simply not true. (Take that you silly savage!!!)
