There was a modest turnout for an anti-war demonstration in New York today. Check out this shot of some of the rally's leaders: Jesse Jackson, Cindy Sheehan, Al Sharpton and Susan Sarandon:
And the National Organization for Women; what's their theory? That a Baathist/al Qaeda takeover would be good for the women of Iraq? Then there's this:
Can anyone explain what that sign is supposed to mean? It's an article of faith among these ignoramus lefties that the Iraq war must have something to do with oil. But what, exactly?
UPDATE: Joe Malchow points out that Dilbert's creator, Scott Adams, has expressed puzzlement over the "no war for oil" theory: More: Allah Pundit has fun with moonbat arts and crafts.
The angry left threw another big tantrum in Manhattan today, just a few miles away from Ground Zero: Iraq Protest Draws Tens Of Thousands. (Hat tip: LawHawk.)
The usual clowns performed. link: 196 comments " That sign says it all. 9/11 means nothing to these anarchists. As long as your not an American, your evil transgressions and intent are dismissed. Actually lauded and praised."
Why don't moonbats "get" that they are free to be moonbats and protest and march and carry signs bearing ridiculous lies and cavort nekkid and be complete ijits because they live in a free country - a country that does not cut off hands or stone people to death, nor bag up its women, nor suppress opposing ideas...goddamn, these people should be ashamed of being so stupid. These moonbats are so 1960's.
One of the LGFers stated something the other day that I think is right on the money. "War on Terror" is a misnomer. It's the "War on Civilization" - and WE didn't start it. http://no-pasaran.blogspot.com/2006/04/creeping-socialism-for-thee-but-not.html posted by Joe Noory @ 10:35 AM

Cuba does now. They're slant-drilling the deposits off of Florida that the environmentalists won't let us drill. |
At the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, heres some straight talk about our dependence on foreign oil from ex-CIA chief James Woolsey: Oil key to U.S. security."If terrorists took out the sulfur-cleaning towers in northeastern Saudi Arabia, as described in the beginning of Robert Baers book, Sleeping With the Devil, crude oil prices could easily top $150 a barrel and stay there for more than a year, Woolsey said." link: 25 comments

The Glenn and Helen Show: Alternative Fuels and Alternative Media
We talk to Jim Meigs of Popular Mechanics about alternative fuels, and Henry Copeland of Blogads.com about the new Blogads reader survey and the future of the blogosphere.
Popular Mechanics has just published an extensive look at alternative fuels like ethanol, methanol, biodiesel, and hydrogen (you can see the article here), and we had Editor-in-Chief Jim Meigs on to talk about what they found, and what the prospects are for getting away from gasoline -- and for the political system's getting rational about energy and fuel.
We also talk with Henry Copeland of Blogads.com about the future of the blogosphere. Blogads has just released the results of their survey on blog readers, and Henry talks about the results, the blog-advertising business, whether the blogosphere is too commercialized, and what's likely to come next. Ads on podcasts? Who knows?
You can listen directly (no iPod needed!) by clicking right here, or you can get it via iTunes. There's an archive of previous podcasts here, and you can get a low-fi version suitable for dialup here.
Music -- appropriate for both biofuels and blog advertising -- is Audra and the Antidote's "Sugar Daddy," available for download here.
As always, my lovely and talented cohost is taking comments and suggestions.
White House: Forget gas-tax cut (won't solve high energy prices over long haul, economist says) --This is typical Washington speak for "Screw you. We want to keep stealing your money through every imaginable tax."
Massive Oil Discovery off of Louisiana--Extraction can begin within two years.
This will be bottled up in courts for decades.
Executive order; start drilling and tell the envirofascists to pound salt.
"Stroke of the pen, law of the land, kind of cool..." (I think) was the quote of Der Schlickmeister. Let's turn their tactics on them.
These are the old prices.
Ever since prices began spiking at the gas pumps last year, people have demanded an investigation into why the costs of filling one's tank has skyrocketed. Conspiracy theories have abounded, especially in the blogosphere, complete with energy executives deliberately overbidding for crude oil and artificially holding down refinery capacity. Now, however, the New York Times has found the conspiracy in Washington DC, where they meet every day under a big dome and plot to run our lives and spend our money: Congress- The best part of the story is that oxygenates aren't even necessary in modern automobiles. The US and Cuba have had a pact in place for almost thirty years dividing the Florida Straits between the two nations for ownership of the oil and natural gas underneath the ocean. Up to now, Cuba has been unable to drill for the resources, and the US has been unwilling to do so. Now, with energy prices skyrocketing due to rising demand, Cuba has leased its field to China and India. Both will begin drilling within sight of the US, Comments (23)
Pumping profits back into drilling
Pain At The Pump: Government Gas Secrets (MPG Deception)
China, Cuba reported in Gulf oil partnership (US Congress a day late and dollar short)--I truly see that there is no effective leadership in Washington, Republican or Democrat. To allow China to partner with Cuba to tap oil reserves 200 miles off our coast is a strategic and economic blunder. We need energy to drive our economy and we're not going to get it from driving hybrid cars. We need to stop giving into the environmentalists and the left. We need to drill in ANWAR and off the Gulf Coast to insure the strength of our country. Developing these reserves is going to take years. I wonder how long it would take them to make a move on the Panama Canal?
Produce More Domestic Energy, Now! --The two Liberal (Leftist) Democrats running for governor in California, Angelides and Westly, are proudly running ads on TV stating that, if elected, they will stop drilling offshore. A perfect example of two Liberals without a brain cell working when the people in California are paying $3.35 a gallon for gasoline. To top that lunacy, they also want to raise taxes. The joke here is that the idiots in California will elect one of these schmucks. Sadly, Arnold hasn't proven to be much better. The GOP better get it's act together ASAP or the entire country will suffer from brainless Liberals like these two.
