They can still give blood.
They just place the anonymous "DO NOT USE" sticker on their form.
The Red Cross did that so gays could give blood like everybody else, but not put anyone at risk.

Then they LIE and place the wrong sticker intentionally and when the blood IS tested, what is the margin of error in the accuracy of the screening. Some innocent person gets a unit of tainted blood... I sure hope I have time to donate for myself if I ever need to receive a transfusion!
KEEP ASKING THE QUESTIONS!

OF course - the supplies involved to take these potentially tainted "donations" are not free. Furthermore, if a potential donor IS infected with HIV - that places an additional risk to the volunteers and employees of the Red Cross who collect and handle those donations.

So a needle has to be wasted, a sterile line and storage bag must be wasted, a professional's time must be wasted, and the potential bio-hazard material must be disposed of properly, costing the Red Cross even more.... all so some idiot (who CARES what his preferences or circumstances!) can feel good about himself, while knowing full well that his "sacrifice" is worthless, unwanted, and wasteful. Just frickin' great.
The moron knows that this will waste resources that would otherwise go towards helping save lives, but his fffffffffeelings *spit* about his "sacrifice" are far more important. What a great guy.

I think they did away with the "do not use" sticker. The last few times I have donated there was no sticker.
Gays aren't discriminated against in donating. They can be as gay as they want as long as they haven't had sex with another male since 1977.
