[history]
A Green Beret from Fort Campbell has become the first person in the nation to receive a new drug treatment for the human variant of mad cow disease.
Staff Sgt. James Alford, 25, a soldier who was awarded a Bronze Star and deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, is resting at his parents' home in Karnack, Texas, after the first round of treatments.

Prayers sent.
For God's sake do not allow this man ever to enter the State of Florida.
He would be declared PVS and ordered starved to death, before any experimental treatment had a chance to work.
His family better carefully check out the medical laws in Tennessee, and watch the feds like a hawk.

Thanks for the link to your article. It seems to me that by fooling with mother nature and giving meat to herbivores we're asking for trouble.

Coroner Nicholas Rheinberg ended the inquest by recording a verdict of death by misadventure. That sounded strange to me. I guess the coroner functions in a strictly legal way and has pathology consultants. Thanks for the link.

Prayers for him and his family. Wilford Hall is a good medical facility, and I know the doctors and staff are treating him the best way they know how.
