I find the statements on this thread to be interesting to say the least. Apparently it's 'okay' to be Christian, that is if you support the President. Otherwise you could be open game. No no no! Separate the two things yourself. Personally, my Christianity always trumps my poltics. Gibson has earned my respect on a much higher level. (My Christian beliefs drive my politics, not the other way around.) I assume the same with most of these posters. That doesn't mean that they are not deeply disappointed if (the truth is yet to be told) he pulls his support for Bush in a very public way.

(Where is the new interview?)
I have my doubts about Bush too. I surely don't think he "lied" but I think the administration put all of us into a bad position by not coming out and fighting some of the allegations.
That being said, we have a choice of Bush or Kerry. Anyone with an ounce of brain will vote for Bush.

I wish my fellow Freepers and conservatives would wakeup and realize that this administration has a real serious problem when it comes to the WMD question
This administration used the WMD threat as the PRIMARY reason for going into Iraq. I believed them about the WMD and think, even though WMD has not been found, that over throwing Saddam was the right thing to do. But,George Bush has a serious credibility problem at this point and because they have not gotten out front on the whole WMD question, GWB is in serious trouble.
This administration lets a POS like Kennedy constantly run his mouth and there is no response. You can't go on and on about "this is the same intelligence that everyone else had" when nearly 600 of our best and bravest are dead.
I pray for and will work my tail off to get GWB reelected but as of today, it's alQerry's to lose, IMHO.

I'm a bit taken aback by the blurb on Drudge. Hannity seems to have a completely different take on his interview with Gibson, which I'm guessing he leaked to Drudge. So, I'm wondering if we are just working ourselves up, and there is a BIG BIG "but..." that we haven't heard just. For example, "I'm having doubts about Bush and the lack of finding any WMD...BUT, that said...I think this country will be in grave danger if Kerry is elected."

This sounds like he HAD supported the war in the past. To be honest, I thought Mel was NOT in favor of the war, since he was anti-war and was raised that way by his father. So I am surprised to find out that he at least seems to have supported it in the first place. There are many conservatives who have been against the war for non-lefy reasons...

I realize Rats think they hold the high ground on compassion, but I disagree. Rats also think they hold the high ground on the self-evident truth that all men are created equal (an absolute and Rats do not believe in absolutes), but that denies the history of the matter.

"He hasn't made millions from the pro-war neo-cons and cons who hate him including Sullivan, Hitchens, Buckley, and Safire."
For your information, of all American sub-populations, support for the Iraqi war was highest among white, Southern evangelical protestants. This is probably also the group where the Passion enjoyed most popularity. Are they also "pro-war neo-cons"?

"And you?"
Told you JW, I'm not selling anything, my primary purpose for being here is to try and get a better understanding of the delusion mindset of your average fundamentalist.
And FR is certainly a fertile ground for studying that.
