If Iraq and Al Qaeda are unrelated, and if the War to Remove Saddam was not part of the War on Terror,

Why is Al Qaeda blowing up Spaniards because they stood with America against Saddam?

I heard a really brief report on Spanish radio yesterdat that Italian secret services felt that an Iraqi or member of the former Iraqi army had been responsible for coordinating the attack in Spain. Unfortunately, I can't find any more references to this, and it may not be true. But if true, it does reinforce what you say. The connections are there.

1. Because Spain is an easy target (Some of the 9/11-assassins were in Spain shortly before their attack - it was a hub for them and houses many Muslims, they blend in more than in Poland)

2. Because while Osama is certainly glad that Saddam is gone and that there might be room now to install islamic Sharia-law in Iraq, his main propaganda is get rid of "American oppressors and infidels" throughout the entire Muslim world, including whomever their allies are. Which includes Spain. (And Germany because of Afghanistan, btw)
