I thought Moses was a Jew. His very beginning was shaped by the fact that he was Jewish -- his mother hiding him in a basket of reeds because all the Jewish babies were being killed. Aren't "Levites" a priestly lineage in the Jewish religion?

Yes, Levites are Hebrews. One of the tribes. (people will get technical here & say there were no "Jews" until there was Judah) They are ALL Hebrews: Moses, Levites, Bejaminites, etc. Abraham was NOT a Jew he was a Babylonian. ;)
