Spain's elections have just turned the countries leadership socialistic, liberal. Due to the train bombings of last week, the voters/citizens of Spain have decided that the Socialists Party should get the nod once again.

I wonder how Al Qaida will hit us in November?

They won't wait until November. I'm guessing they will hit the Olympics in Athens in the summer.

I've been wondering the same thing. The outcome of the elections in Spain, couple with all of the rhetoric from Kerry and the Rats, just may be enough to convince the terrorists that they can drive Bush out of office with a well-timed attack on this country a few days before the November election.

Bush will be President till Dec. 31, 2004 even if he loses. They better think twice.

I was very vocal on the election live thread about what this means for the world at large.

Spain showed that when the going gets tough, they dropped their pants and bent over. Indeed, this can be interpreted as the attitude of Europeans at large towards any instance of being attacked.

The wrong message was sent to the world, in that their nation will not stand strong and tough against terrorist aggressors, rather they will kowtow and appease them. The example that 40-something percent of the voters there have shown is a horrible example for the rest of the world, and they have sounded around the world that they can and will be held hostage by the AQ agenda. The Partido Popular did not lose, nor did the Socialists win, AQ won and won big.

Europe, in the short term at least, will pay for the lack of firmness and integrity shown today. There will likely be more attacks in Europe, and they will occur because AQ and other terrorist clans know they can boss Europe around and own the agenda. They have absolutely nothing to lose by repeating what happened in Madrid on Thursday.

This was indeed a victory for terrorism, and a defeat to freedom and principle. When we got attacked, we held strong and pledged to fight on. They had protests with wails and screams for a peace they now have jeopardized even more than a few days ago. I would be surprised if Europe isn't hit again within the next few weeks or months. It is unfortunate, but Spain set the standard of appeasement that I would have never hoped they would. AQ owns Europe, and they have no one to blame but themselves for their lack of resolve.

That's what I'm thinking. A few days before the election.

I work with a few muslims. You should have seen them today. Bloated with arrogance. Telling other workers from other countries that their country was next. That America is going to get what they deserve.

If I were you, I would get their names and license plate numbers and make a personal visit to the nearest FBI office. They sound like potential terrorists and need to be treated as such.

AlQuaeda will hit us in November by getting John Kerry elected. Fasten your seat belt folks. We are going to be in for a very bumpy ride.

This isn't just about Kerry. It is an ideological battle at the core level. The clinton's and the kerrys may be leaders, it is the followers that worry me the most though.

On top of that, I am concerned with the sliding of some in office we have put there - they legitamize the leftists to appease them via buying into what they say and not wanting to appear as haters. You can't play both sides of the fence as words eventually turn into laws and you can't have opposing laws.

World peace is a noble goal, how we get there though is at the core of it all. We can appease as many did with Hitler, or we can use force and stop those who want to do us in.

I think if more of the people saw the true face of the leftists in this country they would run from them. They are called sheep, ridiculed as being stupid, and as people who need led by the 'superior' intellect of those who know what is best for them. The people don't need led, they need the government to get out of their lives so they can live them.

The left will trumpet the heritage and history of every culture in the US, except the heritage and culture of the US itself. We're a good people, we work hard, and have sacraficed immensely to get ourselves to where we are. Our forefathers gave all for our way of life, the least we can do is honor that with our own battle today.

The battle will not be won at the polls. As I have said many times before, Jesus told his disciples to go forth and preach the word - for he knew that real change came from within men, he did not tell them to go out and change laws - those only punish men for something. Change the hearts of men, and you won't need the laws.

You're very kind and more diplomatic than I am.

I would have probably gone to jail for assault.

If AQ hits the Olympics I doubt that the world will sit by and watch. I would hope that there would be a country out there not so pink or so jaded that they would let AQ get away with it.

"Remember, "terrorism" is a 'embracing a philosophy where the use of terror (i.e.) targeting civilians and not soldiers, is an acceptable and legitimate means of advancing a political cause."

While this may be true in the general sense of terrorism, what we see with Al Qaeda and their brethern, is far worse. While the result may appear to be a means of advancing a political cause (e.g. the election in Spain), this terrorism is absolute. It is not so much political, because they do not seek concessions or reconciliation with their opponents...they seek their absolute destruction. There is no middle-ground for negotiation or diplomacy as with other "terrorists" since they have no demands other than the death of those who are non-Muslim. This terrorism should not be mistaken or labeled as a political movement, since what they seek is non-negotiable.

If the lesson in Spain is that an act of terror will get you a "soft on terrorism" government...Before November, we will get hit...Thanks Hanoi John.

Afraid not! W will in November. If an attack occurs just before the election it will just make the number of votes W get higher. We would not cower like Spain. We would show them what a nation with conviction does when faced with such barbaric acts.

Well, I just have faith in the U.S. Government's ability to make someone's life a living hell when it puts it's mind to it. ;-)

You'd think so, but terrorists hit the Olympics in '72, and look what happened...every country (but one) let them get away with it.

That was 1972 and the mindset was that the terrorists were only after Israeli atheletes. AQ seems to go after all nationalities and faiths. That might be a call to arms and to action.
