One of the dirty political tricks of the age is the surrogate attack on opponents from the fringes, allowing a candidate to reap the benefit while denying the responsibility.

Both Democratic and Republican organizations play this cheap-shot game, but the Republicans seem to be more effective at it, especially when the subject is first ladies, prospective or established.

She's already threatened to buy the presidency for Botoxboy if we're not nice to him. That doesn't seem very ladylike.

Case in point: Hillary Clinton, who was excoriated by the right wing in ways that Barbara Bush and Laura Bush never had to face.

If Republican First Ladies were as slimy and scandalous as Hillary Clinton and/or Teresa Heinz, it'd be front page news in every Liberal rag.

Our Republican First Ladies have something Hillary and Teresa can't buy: class and upstanding character.

The Barf alert had been left out! However, could it also be due to the fact that Laura Bush is a First LADY as opposed to Hitlery!

Barbara and Laura Bush never claimed the "Co-Presidency."

Hillary attempted to usurp some role in government as a non-elected official and play with the health insurance.

You play for power and you will face whatever is dished out by people.

Ter-AA-za will face the same criticism if she decides to be Evita Peron to Ketchup Boy.

Besides, I just plain don't like the woman. Heard her speak and she's one huge snob.

I really don't see any reason why anyone should feel a need to bring Mrs Heinz into the debate,no matter how loopy she is.

John Kerry's voting record and core principles (or more accurate, his lack of core principles) should be more than enough ammunition for he GOP.

Could someone explain the ketchup inheritance, please? Ok, Tay's first hubby was the Heinz prince, John (who didn't care for JFKerry). When hubby died did he will everything, the whole bottle of ketchup, to his widow? Surely, there must be other Heinz 57's out there who have a finger in the sauce, huh? From where does Tay hail?

What garbage! It's not a smear of Ter-AZE-UH to point out the fact that she bankrolls left-wing organizations which, in turn, smear the president.

Nobody did. These wedge issues (to defeat President Bush)
such as gay marriage were invented at the the DNC and New York Times and then
administered through Judge Anthony Lewis-Marshall on a helpless citizenry,
and then falsely bricktossed upon the other party by these slicksters.

Could it be that Hitlery was and is a maggot and the Bush women show a little class?
