Well, allowing a pacifistic government to come into power when you are under attack is the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face, I'd say. Blame the US, blame Aznar, blame the Popular party, blame anyone but Islamic nuts. See if it makes them love you.

Terrorism works; sad but true, although this will undoubtedly turn out to be the case of "do what they want and they'll eat me last". From what I read, AlQaeda's long-term goal is the return of Andalucia and Granada to Muslim rule. A goal like this is rather hard to placate.

Al Qaeda' long-term goal is Islam ruling the entire world and all non-Islamic people dead.

That is their long-term goal.

``I wasn't planning to vote, but I am here today because the Popular Party is responsible for murders here and in Iraq,'' said Ernesto Sanchez-Gey, 48, who voted in Barcelona.

Maybe this one time, yes it was retaliation for Spain's support of the Iraq war. But what makes this person think that the extremist Muslims won't attack them tomorrow? Or next year?

What amazes me about these people is the belief in that if they leave bullies alone the bullies will stay away. Maybe that works on the playground (well it doesn't) where there are parents to take care of the situation. But this isn't the playground.

Very bad news for the war on terror, and I feel very badly for the Spanish people. We're only talking a small percentage who changed their votes as a result of this particular spin. But those 5% or so will reward evil people and engender repeated attacks all over Europe. And it won't just be those nations that supported the Iraq war who get targeted.

These are the same appeasing little weasels that they and most of the rest of Europe have always been. If a Socialist victory is followed by a pullout from Iraq, watch the rest of the European capitols go boom right before elections!

I don't care for the Spanish anyway, but I did hope they might show a little backbone under the circumstances.

It sounds like the Spaniards were highly angered by the attack, but took it out on the only group they could find. It's not going to help them.....

Sky News is calling it the other way. I think it's too early to be sure.

The Socialist Peaceniks usually scream the loudest. And Netscape leans left, as does AP.

It appears the Spanish are no different than the French...

I had hopes otherwise.
