The media didn't spin it that way at all.

Yes they did, regardless of whether you were paying attention or not.

The Saturday report by the socialist-aligned radio station of a coverup was jumped on massively by the media, with Fox, CNN, and MSNBC broadcasting these staged 'protest' yesterday afternoon. Google 'spain' 'election' and you'll get an AP story that every paper over here is running repeating the coverup/falsely blame ETA allegation and declaring that it will likely swing the election.

Yes, there are plenty of Freepers who were determined from the beginning that this was AQ, and any of the substantial evidence pointing towards other groups or a collaboration of terror groups were ignored. And every time a train derails there are freepers who immediately scream AQ, no matter what the evidence.

I'm not so sure about that, but my point remains. The media was very much on board with the "it was ETA" theory even after all evidence pointed otherwise. They weren't doing this to help PP, they were doing it to downplay the islamic threat so it wouldnt help Bush.
