MADRID, Spain (CNN) -- Spanish voters go to the polls Sunday to elect a new government amid controversy over the timing of the election in the wake of Thursday's terror attacks.
Polling booths open at 0800 GMT (0300 ET) with candidates competing for seats in the nation's lower and upper houses of parliament.

The Socialists have pledged to withdraw all 1,300 Spanish troops from Iraq should they win office on Sunday. If the Spanish Socialists win in Spain and withdraw troops from Iraq, this action gives a military victory to the Muslim terrorists--just as surely as a frontal attack with heavy armor.
Is there any doubt that this kind of craven troop withdrawel would lead to a similar--or far worse--attack in the run-up to our election this November?

"Political observers are predicting a victory for the ruling conservative Popular Party over the main opposition Socialist Party."
Ooops! So much for the news media's masturbation about the Spanish people blaming their own government for the attack...

If the Spanish Socialists win in Spain and withdraw troops from Iraq, this action gives a military victory to the Muslim terrorists-- CNN is part of the Axis of Weasels. Remember how you felt after the 9-11 attacks? How many people do you think would have voted for an appeaser three days after those attacks? If anything, this could hurt the socialists.

Opinion polls show a majority of Spaniards did not support the decision to invade Iraq. How the mighty have fallen. From conquistadors to a bunch of socialist wuss cheese-eating surrender monkey wannabes. Francisco Franco is probably spinning in his grave.

A 4% polling lead is trivial even without the intervening events..

. . .the American public may be slightly less pusillanimous than the Spanish.I'd say the American public are far less weak-kneed that the voters in the Eurozone by a longshot. If this kind of atrocity occured before our election, the resultant outrage would virtually guarantee a win for President Bush.
Let's just hope the Spanish voters make a strong statement to Al Qaida today and take some of the wind out of their sails.
The polls are open right now and the voting is under way.
I hope there will be good news to report at the end of this thread.
