Direct Action

Join us in resistance to our resources being taken away from education, healthcare and community needs to fuel war and occupation in Iraq and to extend a global empire.  While billions of dollars go to Bechtel and other corporations profiteering from "reconstruction," the Iraqi people's healthcare and education are in crisis.

Help celebrate the anniversary of our shutdown of the San Francisco financial district against the invasion of Iraq, and the launch of DASW's Democracy vs. Empire Action Campaign in conjunction with the Global Day of Action on March 20.  Help make our dreams of real democracy come true!

Yes, NormsRevenge. Here in the Bay Area -- the colleges and some highschools have been revving up for this event. Thursday was calm -- anti-bush/anti-"ahnold" posters and signup tables. But FRIDAY -- they were marching and practicing. So loud, so invasive, students in their classrooms couldn't listen to their teachers. Classes were abruptly halted to make way for these "first-amendment abuser-types". These people have been in everyone's faces since, oh, about 1870s. Same rude tactics.

The cops should use tear gas and batons to crack some heads, both of which they didn't use last year.

In Oakland, I saw the news footage of the incident. One of the protestors threw a bottle (you could see and hear it break), then other stuff flew and then the cops protected themselves with the beanbag guns.
