SPECIAL ELECTION WEEKEND: McKenna hits the road

Saturday, March 13, 2004

By The Leader-Chicago Bureau (chicago@illinoisleader.com)

GLENVIEW -- If you're looking for U.S. Senate candidate Andy McKenna this weekend, follow the McKenna's New Beginning Bus Tour.

Andy, his wife Mary and their four young adult children will be aboard, visiting with supporters from Carbondale to Springfield to Rockford and finally, his home town of Glenview.

The "New Beginning Express" will roll through twenty cities and more than 40 counties in an effort to reach out to Republican voters around Illinois, energize the campaign’s statewide field organization and spread McKenna’s message of "bringing new leadership and vision to the Republican Party," the campaign said this weekend.

While McKenna remains in third place in polling, he remains focused and confident that McKenna supporters will deliver on Tuesday.

“We can only regain the trust of Illinois voters with a commitment to integrity and the highest ethical standards,” McKenna said. "We need new leadership and a fresh voice for Illinois. The Republican Party in Illinois is ready for a new beginning."

At each stop, McKenna will release the findings of his Jobs Roundtable Tour, in which he discussed economic growth strategies with business, civic, and political leaders in communities throughout the state. The plan, entitled “Getting Illinois Working,” focuses on job creation, healthcare reform and common sense agriculture policies to benefit the working families of Illinois.

If Andy's gonna be all those places at all those times, I hope his staff invests an awful lot of many in alarm clocks. Otherwise health department may record largest case ever of mass narcolepsy.

Andy's a real snoozer.

Spyder,
It's been over 24 hours and only 3 responses, see what I mean about Andy being a snoozer? He'll be lucky to this well on Tuesday!
