Safety Last in Maryland

YOU HAVE TO WONDER if Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. (R) has a thing about safety. He doesn't like bans on assault-style weapons, has opposed requirements that motorcyclists wear helmets and last year vetoed a bill that would have let counties install speed cameras in residential areas to protect schoolchildren from lead-footed motorists. That's a lot of assists to the lobbyists who put safety last. Again this year, Mr. Ehrlich's stands on these issues will matter, and any second thoughts he might have would be welcome.
Thanks to the ill-explained decision of State Sen. John A. Giannetti Jr. (D-Prince George's) to be the swing committee vote against a modest state ban on assault weapons, the measure may not make it to the Senate floor, where supporters say it would have enough votes to pass. Mr. Ehrlich could help, though the National Rifle Association is pushing hard against action.

YOU HAVE TO WONDER if Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. (R) has a thing about safety. Yeah...it's a little tidbit called freedom. And a tiny, insignificant little piece of paper the Liberals would like to use as toilet paper called the Constitution lets the citizens of your great nation exercise it.
It really is too bad the lamestream media thinks they speak for the people.

Sounds to me like Gov. Ehrlich has a thing about liberty. Unlike the Washington Post, he is fighting for it.

Then: Give me liberty or give me death.
Today: Take my liberty before I hurt myself.

So? Ehrlich doesn't believe in repression and Nanny State social engineering. Got a problem with that?

I'm still trying to figure out how a camera stops a lead-footed motorist from mowing down a youngster. All it can do is identify him after the fact.
