Anyone know just what AWOL Kerry *has* been doing? Has he been off raising money for his election bid?

Here are the facts: in 2003 Sen. John Kerry missed 292 votes, or 64 percent of the votes in the Senate. This year he has missed ALL of the first 22 Senate votes... until he rushed back to Washington at the behest of the gun control crowd to cast votes for a series of anti-Second Amendment measures. This is very very troubling. With 2 million defensive guns uses a year by law-abiding citizens, regardless of political affiliation, any candidate who would miss that many votes, only to go out of his way to vote on legislation aimed at limiting the right to defend oneself(criminal don't use the guns banned), anyone would be right to question the man's willingness to defend the Constitution of the United States.
Kerry also voted to abrogate our freedoms of speech and associatio with his "yes" vote on campaign finance reform.
Despite the ever-increasing sums spent on campaigns, we have not seen an improvement in campaign discourse, issue discussion or voter education. More money does not mean more ideas, more substance or more depth. Instead, it means more of what voters complain about most. More 30-second spots, more negativity and an increasingly longer campaign period. 148 Cong. Rec. S2150 (Mar. 20, 2002) (remarks of Sen. Kerry).
And from a Boston Globe article:
In 1990, Senator John Kerry advocated public financing of campaigns shortly after the Massachusetts legislator flew to Houston, Texas to attend a reception held by an oil and gas company where he picked up $ 10,000 in campaign contributions from people associated with the firm.

Helms was probably ill.

If I pulled that stunt of not showing up at my job, my butt would have hit the curb after the first week. One set of rules for the rich and powerful and another for the rest of us. Pathetic.

How often he showed up. Biden had a brain aneurysm that year.
