The FBI is concerned about cyberterror, but bombs remain a bigger danger than bytes, the agencys counterterrorism chief told a joint House Homeland Security subcommittee hearing on last months Northeast blackout.
...
He also dismissed a subsequent claim of responsibility for the blackout by an alleged terrorist organization, Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigade, as wishful thinking. We have no information confirming the actual existence of this group.

Remember it was weeks before Al-Queda said anything about 9-11.

They also effectively gave the UN "the finger" in claiming responsibility for the attack on UN headquarters in iraq.

Abu Hafs al-Masri also claims credit for the 2003 Academy Awards ceremonies. A spokesman says "Your celebrities are all belonging to us." You heard it here first.

Even if this group is lying, the Madrid attack could still have been from Islamic terrorists.

If the explosive used, matches up with the truckload of explosive materials they caught back in Feb...with the two Basque dudes in the truck...then this whole argument is null and void. We will know by later next week if it matches up. For ETA, its really bad news if they thought a simple message, and a tape left in the truck didn't make the cops rush toward the Muslim group. My guess is that a number of Spaniards will start to place bombs in the Basque region...to get revenge. This could eventually trigger a small civil war if ETA is the culprit and they aren't taken out of action quickly.

There is another thread today with an article published in 2001 saying the two organizations were working together.

There was also that report of a Koran found in a truck that did not explode.
