1999 : (FORMER UNSCOM INSPECTOR SCOTT RITTER GETS BOOK DEAL FROM SIMON & SCHUSTER) This is not [former UNSCOM inspector Scott] Ritter's first attempt to share his insights and first-hand experience of weapons inspection. In 1999, he landed a quarter-million-dollar book deal with Simon & Schuster to tell his story in Endgame: Solving the Iraq Problem - Once and for All. Critics called it "muddled" and it did not attain the notoriety or praise Ritter had hoped for. That's why he pursued the idea of making a documentary. "My driving mission is to tell the world that the inspection process has been hijacked by the Bush administration," Ritter explains. -- "Ritter Rides The Peace Train; EX-U.N. WEAPONS INSPECTOR CALLS BUSH MORE DANGEROUS THAN SADDAM, By Paul Perillie, Long island press news, 2004?" http://www.longislandpress.com/v01/i05030213/news_03.asp

Thank you. This article is one of the best that I have seen thus far laying out the timeline of Ritter and his flip-flops.

"GARDEN CITY—When former United Nations Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter left the Iraq inspection team in 1998, he wrote in his resignation letter to the U.N., "The sad truth is that Iraq today is not disarmed anywhere near the level required." The following week, testifying at a Senate hearing, Ritter said that even if disarmed, Iraq had a 'breakout scenario' to fully replenish its biological and chemical weapons within six months."

"That was five years ago."

"Ask this former Marine intelligence officer who he thinks is the greatest threat to national security and global security and without missing a beat he tells the Long Island Press "George W. Bush on both counts.""

"This is not Ritter's first attempt to share his insights and first-hand experience of weapons inspection. In 1999, he landed a quarter-million-dollar book deal with

to tell his story in Endgame: Solving the Iraq Problem - Once and for All." ............... "That's why he pursued the idea of making a documentary. "My driving mission is to tell the world that the inspection process has been hijacked by the Bush administration," Ritter explains."

"As an experienced intelligence operative, Ritter knew he should be suspicious of this offer. After having been investigated by the F.B.I. for allegedly spying on behalf of Israel, Ritter was now set to accept money from a well-heeled Iraqi with influential friends in Baghdad. He swears he went the extra mile to make sure "the deal was kosher." Ritter claims he called a reporter who has sources in the C.I.A. to check out al-Khafaji. He scoffs at the idea that he was being played by the Iraqis but admits he's aware, in the back of his mind, "that Saddam has an vested interest in funding [his] film."

"Ritter, who just returned from a film junket to Japan, says every place he goes in the world people are afraid of religious extremists. But he adds, "The extremists they are afraid of are not Muslims living in bunkers but Christians living on Pennsylvania Avenue." Ritter is convinced that the U.S. will be at war by the end of the month."

"Ritter's self-propelled high-profile status has had him testify before a host of state governing bodies. In May 2000, at a congressional briefing, he said Saddam was incapable of "world or regional domination" but admitted that a lot of the blame for perceptions to the contrary "could be laid at [Saddam's] doorstep."

" Not only has he addressed the U.N. Security Council, U.S. Senate and the Japanese Diet. Last September, he even addressed the rubberstamp Iraqi National Assembly—he timed his trip to stave off an attack against Iraq that he expected the Bush Administration to launch on the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks."

"(Ritter recently put off another trip to Iraq to answer to the media when a story broke that he was arrested in the upstate town of Colonie for a June 2001 incident in which he allegedly lured a 16-year old girl he met on the Internet to watch him masturbate. The case was eventually dismissed, the record sealed and Ritter now refuses to discuss the matter.)"

Most people seemed to think that this June 2001 incident was what turned Ritter, however it happened after Ritter was turned and the "case" was dismissed and the record "sealed".

Somebody got to Ritter after he resigned in 1998 and long before his June 2001 incident that now appears to have never happened!

Ritter talking about "religious extremists" sounds just like Hillry and the liberals in their attempt to protect Saddam.
