DETROIT, MI, March 11, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A 15-year-old in a Detroit suburb died January 8 as a result of a second trimester abortion. News of the death has not been published anywhere except a minor mention on a local Fox station.
Dr. Leigh Hlavaty performed an autopsy on 15-year-old Tamia Russell on January 9. Dr. Hlavaty told a local registered nurse and pro-life activist who contacted LifeSiteNews.com that the girl's death was caused by "uterine infarction with sepsis due to status second trimester abortion." She ruled the death as "normal." The doctor explained, "I ruled it normal because these complications are expected with this type of abortion."
The case is complicated by the fact that Russell's boyfriend was 24 and in Michigan that constitutes statutory rape. Moreover, the boyfriend's sister took Russell in for the abortion without the knowledge of Russell's parents. Michigan law requires parental notification for abortions for minors under 18.
Tamia's family told Fox that they did not even know their daughter was six months pregnant. The family is outraged over the incident and are blaming the abortionist at the Woman Care Clinic in Lanthrup Village for their daughter's death. Michigan pro-life activist Ann Norton told LifeSiteNews.com that the abortionist in question is Alberto Hotari.
Local police, and the attorney general are reportedly investigating the case however phone calls to the local police department were not returned by press time. Michigan Right to Life told LifeSiteNews.com they are following the case closely.
LifeSiteNews.com called the Woman Care Clinic to ask for a comment. After being put on hold for an excessive period of time, a woman who did not wish to be named said, "I'm sorry to tell you that because of all the privacy rules in effect, we cannot reveal any information."

It's sad.
And WTF was a 24 year old doing with a 15 year old? I blame him mostly. He probably set the whole thing up to avoid going to the bighouse where he belongs. And his sister is just as bad.
It just ain't right. Because of those two, as well as Dr Death at that clinic, two lives were lost.

Ok, here's the thing -- surely there is enough criminal liability to go around here between the "boyfriend" and the clinic and the sister, et.al.
But this is the direct result of feminists teaching girls as young as they can get hold of them that equality means bedding down who you want, when you want for whatever reason you want with no consequences.
Yes, indeedy. Ain't it grand? Just use a condom and heck, if you get an STD anyway, don't sweat it, just come on back and see us at the clinic. If you get pregnant, just come on back and see us at the clinic. If you want more condoms to bed down more folks, just come on back and see us at the clinic. Just don't forget your checkbook.
So when do feminists do the right thing and empower women and girls with the little known or practiced notion these days that choice is when you say yes or no to sex -- everything after that is a consequence phase.
There was a time in this country, not too long ago in fact, when women truly were the keepers of the culture and when saying no was the norm because the consequences were too frightening to contemplate. Now, we have devalued sex, marriage and yes, women, to the point that apparently, it is all disposable.
From STDs to pregnancy to waiting by the phone for a phone call that will never come to chipping away at one's dignity -- when will women learn that biology trumps this misguided notion of equality? Women are left with the consequences. Women are the biggest losers in this whole sick game.
This little girl was sadly duped by a culture dripping with feminist doctrine.
But just so long as her check cleared, I guess that's all that matters to these vultures.

And how many abortions are there every day? 3000?
Well at least we don't have to hear the ProChoice republican people defending abortion on this one.

I imagine that the confusion is the distinction between "natural causes" vs. "homicide."
But, there's no way that a death due to sepsis following closely on a surgical procedure should be recorded/reported without a explicit description, such as the one you gave.
I understand that the new, nationally standardized death certificates have a space for reporting whether or not the subject was pregnant within the past year.

Let's face it, the drive to sexuality outside of marriage is driven by men. Even Gloria Steinham has realized that marriage and children are preferable for women.
Our problem is the last 100 years of manipulation of public opinion to create a new "norm."
The other side - and I believe the true root to the current situation - is the actions of men and those of us in our society who tolerate adulterous and fornicating men. Especially the adulterers such as Kobe Bryant who is still playing a *game* to applause and millions of dollars, although he has admitted to adultery (at least).
The men want to be free to have multiple partners, they convince society that this is "normal" and manipulate girls and women and wreck the honor and sanctity of one marriage for life. As the "norm" becomes more pervasive, the women must avoid (or get rid of) pregnancies, so abortion becomes the new norm. Is it any wonder that we have so many children born out of marriage, so many combinations that we now call "family" and that those who don't even pretend to the "one man one woman" old-norm demand the same title as those who do?

Men have been driven by biology for years. It is women who have changed having been brainwashed by this bizarre notion that having sex (outside of marriage) is no big deal and is empowering.
That brainwashing can only be laid at the feet of feminists who have fueled an entire abortion industry with that drivel.
By devaluing sex and taking any cultural taboos away -- from having sex outside of marriage to having children out of wedlock to no fault divorce -- who is the one left with the consequences? Oh sure, they prance out all kinds of super "with it" gals in Hollywood who are single moms, praised for their independence because of the baby perched on their hip.
But what they don't show these young girls who idolize them is the battalion of nannies, assistants, night nurses, chefs and assorted hangers on who pretty much ensure that Mom doesn't have to be bothered with little things like projectile vomiting from the little darling at 3 AM.
In their quest for "equality", feminists have done tremendous, possibly irreversible damage to women, have oceans of blood on their greedy hands and rendered the concepts of personal responsibility, dignity and decency to the ash heap.

Are men able to think and control their actions or are they only driven by biology? Are women *more* responsible for our actions than men?
Are those in society who tolerate adultery driven by biology or their own selfish desires and a twinge of "it could be me"?
What is the excuse for idolizing known adulterers and flagrant fornication on the part of public men and women?
It's time we each laid the blame squarely on our own shoulders, because of our own failure to demand that those with whom we socialize and do business with behave with honor and ethics. We at least know that it's wrong when our own husband or wife has sex outside the marriage. With a little thought,we know that adultery and all sex outside marriage is wrong. We know the harm that is possible is so much greater than the consequences of one man one woman for life.
Is it our "biology" that drives us to keep silent about the business colleague, neighbor, or family member who flaunts what we know is wrong behavior? Is it biology that buys tickets to the basketball games that Bryant plays?

It's a politically correct death. The liberal elite media will give this all the attention they think it deserves.

I had to go back and re-read it again. It was the rapists sister who took the girl in. And yep - they need to go after as much money as they can get - and put the "doctor" out of business!!

I think both have changed --- my grandfather told me that back in his day --- and before --- shotgun weddings weren't all that unusual --- biology happened then as it happens now only men did not run from their responsibilities. Back then when family was considered important, a man was pretty much expected to marry and support his family. Men didn't abandon their children or they pretty much had to leave town --- their own families would disown them.
