Ya'acov Meni, a Beersheba taxi driver, was stabbed by a Palestinian youth from Dahariya, near Hebron, on Thursday, police said. He was taken to Soroka Hospital and was reported to be in serious condition.
Meni, 60, was driving in the Neveh Ze'ev neighborhood when he pulled over to pick up two youths. Upon entering the taxi, one of them pulled a knife and stabbed him. A passerby, who witnessed the attack, held the perpetrators at gunpoint until police arrived.
"The suspects said they came to carry out an attack in Beersheba to repent for their sins by way of attacking Jews," police spokesman Itai Dotan said. He told a reporter from Channel 2 that the reason he carried out the attack was because "we are commanded to do so by the Koran."
One of the suspects told police the original plan was to stab an IDF officer, steal his gun, and carry out a shooting attack.
Police said that the suspects had recently spent time reconnoitering settlements in the Hebron area with the aim of carrying out an attack.
Three years ago, one of the suspects started to travel to Jerusalem to carry out an attack, but was persuaded to return home by friends, police said.
Following the attack, security forces conducted searches throughout the city in pursuit of a third suspect who is believed to have led the two youths to the city.

Man Thwarts Terror Attack
23:12 Mar 11, '04 / 18 Adar 5764
An alert Be'er Sheva man was able to stop a terrorist attack in progress and bring to the arrest of the two would-be murderers. The incident began around noon today when two Arabs from the PA-controlled areas south of Hevron flagged down a Be'er Sheva taxi, stabbed the driver, and left him bleeding in the street as they attempted to drive the cab away. A man looking down from his apartment porch heard what was going on, grabbed his gun, and ran down to help. "I saw the driver lying on the ground, with one terrorist sitting in the driver's seat and the other one about to get in next to him. I pointed my gun at them and told them to drop their knives. One of them did right away, and then the other one followed. I kept my gun pointed in their direction until the police came. Other people who were around took care of the taxi driver."
The driver is now listed in moderate-to-serious condition in Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva. After questioning the two terrorists, police say that their plan was to snatch a gun from a soldier or policeman and perpetrate a shooting attack.

A passerby, who witnessed the attack, held the perpetrators at gunpoint Must not have gotten the memo from Sarah Brady that "guns don't solve anything."
To: yonif
Feinstein, Schumer, and Brady are deeply saddened.

Apparently the Jerusalem Post isn't aware that Mel Gibson is the world's biggest threat to Judaism.

Holding armed assailants, terrorists, at gunpoint, rather than pulling the trigger. A difficult, courageous decision. Different values, I guess.
