I am sitting here and all of a sudden the numbers game went through my mind. Another major Al Qaeda bombing that could have been worse if other bombs went off and the timing was different.
So since they love numbers and the 11th day apparently is it odd to do this math?
2004- 2+4=6 Plus 03- March being the 3rd month. = 9 On the 11th day of the month.
9-11 adding up.
I'm going back to wrapping my skull with reynolds again.

fascinating thread...I was wondering about this.

Well, Ron....you're not the only EE on FR, you know.
Yes, I've done time in cages doing FCC emissions testing on various computer equip, but I'm confident you are incorrectly attributing the quietness you undoubtedly sensed with the EM effects of the cage. Think about it. Two of the three cages I used in my career were open-air mesh on a factory floor and, of course, they were just as loud inside as it was on the outside! The other one doubled as an anechoic test chamber for environmental fan noise testing and though it was awful quiet....I can assure you, the eerieness you sense is not a characteristic property of the EM shielding of a Faraday cage. But you know that.
Of course I'm not opposed to selling snake oil to environmentalists if they think they get a better sleep under a metal mosquito net. Lemmeno when you have your marketing plan ready to go!

re: "the eeriness you sense(d) is not a characteristic property of the EM shielding of a Faraday cage. But you know that."
Sorry, I didn't know that at all. All I had to go on was my experience in the cage.
But it could easily be explained this way: The open air mesh windows installed were on only ONE side, rather close together, and only a foot or so in vertical height. The rest of the cage was composed of copper sheeting soldered together, and I suppose bound to a plywood support.
So, the sole directionality of the sound that we could hear may very well have been the totality of our experience. I had never thought of that!
But, I am sure that a "snake oil" product somewhat like a Faraday cage for your "sleeping chamber" would sell! I was once asked if some small magnets that a woman was considering purchasing, to place at the headboard of her bed to counter the Earth's magnetic field, would actually work!
"NO," was my answer. But, I know that at least SOME of those were sold!
