MARCH 11--A former Democratic congressional aide was arrested today on charges that she worked as an Iraqi spy. Susan Lindauer, 41, has been charged with conspiring to work with the Iraqi Intelligence Service and engaging in prohibited financial transactions with Saddam Hussein's government, according to the below indictment unsealed today by federal prosecutors in New York. Lindauer, arrested this morning at her Maryland home, allegedly met with Iraqi agents during several visits to the country's U.N. mission, where she "accepted various payments" in return "for services provided to the IIS in the course of her ongoing intelligence relationship with them." Lindauer, who also allegedly traveled to Iraq in early-2002 to meet with IIS agents, has previously worked as a press spokesperson for several elected officials, including former Senator Carol Moseley-Braun and congressmen Ron Wyden and Peter DeFazio. Thanks for posting this. Since she is a former Democratic aide, we'll likely see little of this in the various mainstream media.

This sounds like treason to me and, if she is found guilty, I believe that she should be executed.

What she's guilty of is not taking enough bribes from foreign governments. In Clintonesque fashion, her crimes were not outrageous enough to enrich those in her circle.

Now if this woman spied for tens of millions and laundered it a bit thru the DNC she would have gone untouched.

She was too cheap.

You're right about the mainstream media -- I just heard this story on CNN and they made no mention of her democrat roots.

It was a misunderstanding. She sold a pardon to Saddam and his men. Upon discovering that in fact no such pardon materialized, she's sending the money back.

She uses the same bank the Rodham boyz use. EFT's take about thirty years after announced.

Wasn't that the inflated vendors scenario? That being that Saddam would have a supplier of baby formula overcharge by millions, even more so than the actual cost of goods, and then demand the cash rebate back from the supplier and split it with UN goons?

ie, Buy $4,000,000 of baby formula and only take delivery of $1,000,000 of formula. The rest was skimmed off.

AP reported that Moseley-Braun's office is stating that M-B doesn't remember her. Yeah right...she was her press secretary for cripes sake.

Not that I heard. And she was just discussed with a talking head expert on Dayside, also not mentioned there, although the "expert" said that the woman only received $10,000 in 2 years of service, she could have made more at a gas station, so it was likely more politically motivated then money.

Thanks!

I was listening to Luciane Goldberg real early on talk radio this morning and caught a bit about this. When I did a google search the only article I came up with was what I posted. So I began to wonder if I was listening to a re-run of Luciane but see now I wasn't.
