Eight days after the primary election, former state Attorney General Dan Lungren finally emerged as the winner of the Republican nomination to succeed Rep. Doug Ose next year as the 3rd Congressional District's next congressman.

"This was probably the most difficult contest I've ever been through," Lungren sighed after taking a call from Oller conceding the race. "It was a great lesson in patience and humility."

What's the deal with Lungren? Any good?
Or is he one of those scumbag, spineless California "moderate" Republicans?

Many here are upset that he moved into this district just to be back in politics and that Oller (the conservative favorite) was upset. Still, he is much better than either Ose.

I thought Lundgren is a conservative. Didn't he run against Davis, when Davis was first elected?

I thought Lundgren is a conservative.

Lundgren is one of the most thoroughly anti-gun politicians out there - he's a great partner for Feinswine. I'm not a Californian, but in my book that makes him a liberal. Someone who doesn't trust the citizenry with arms is not worthy of being entrusted with power.

Lungren isn't my favorite guy either... but his "anti-gun" reputation mostly comes from the fact that he enforced gun control laws that had been passed by the legislature. That is the AG's job... enforce the law, whether they like that law or not...

I didn't know Lundgren is anti-gun. I have to research that.

Lundgren helped give us Grey Davis. Yes. However, from my understanding, he lost due to his incompetence. Not because he was a wishy washer moderate. For one issue, is view on abortion, since this became the one issue Gray Davis used to distinguish himself, Lundgren simply crashed and burned and handed the state to Davis.

As for his "anti-gun" perception, well, he was Attorney General. Unlike the current dufus who wants to only enforce certain laws, as AG, he enforced laws...even those that are not popular ones.

So, currently, my only problem is his incompetence that gave us Davis. Would've prefered Oller, but he will be better then either Ose thats for sure.

My understanding is that he was rather enthusiastic in his enforcement of the Kali gun control laws. You'd probably be better off checking with someone who is a resident of the state and who is more familiar with Lundgren's actions. However, AFAIK, his record screams "RINO" or worse.
