I am a great Peggy fan, but this one bothers me a little bit. I am not so inclined to want to help Kerry with his campaign, and I am not sure why Peggy seems to be doing that.

She takes this tack from time to time in what I assume is an attempt to appear open minded -- not toooo 'publican, to keep the borderline dems interested and maybe get them converted.

Previously, Peggy has stated a preference for having two strong parties, to provide real competition and real debate over issues.

Yes, I'm also a big fan of hers, but lately Noonan's off her feed. This piece, with its limp reaction to Kerry's vicious comments, sounds positively medicated.

Peggy Noonan helping Sen. Kerry?
She seems to be baiting him to take an unequivocal stand against the liberation of Iraq. Would that help him in the general election?
Sen. Kerry's equivocation and double-talk is the only thing that's kept him afloat this long. If he began enunciating clearly where he really stands, he'd be immensely popular with left-wing nuts, and he'd be crushed in the general election. Not even the press could save him.
