Interesting situation. Pay higher taxes so more people can work for the state, or pay lower taxes and fewer people work for the state. Can't do a static analysis with so many variables, but the basic principle behind protecting the state job is to extract the wages for that job from the taxpayer. So, if you are the one getting the state job, you're happy. If you're merely paying for it, it's not that great.

Jobs have a multiplier effect. The people who know the person who now has a job feel better about the economy and spend. The wages of that government employee are spent in the US and not in India. On and on...

Except that the tax dollars find their way back into our economy at a much higher rate than the dollars spent overseas. the stores and services government employees buy tend to be in the US.
Not that I am for government jobs but if I have to choose between 24k for a state worker or 3k just leaving the nation Ill choose the 24k...
