Watch out hens, the Fox is back!

Look at the headlines!

Sept. 11 widows outraged over Bush commercials. Democrats empowered by Kerry's wins. Defiance of the law spreads as homosexual marriages continue. Arguments about Iraq. Arguments about indecent media.

What's missing? Probably the most important story, but because of media sensitivityabout illegal aliens, the reality sails under their radar.

Oh, there's superficial news coverage. We hear about ranch tours and comfortable meals but not much about the real reasons for the confab Ð agreements that will impact this country dramatically for decades.

No doubt, that's exactly what George Bush and Vicente Fox want.

Yes, that Fox. He was here before and he's back and he's more demanding than ever.

Fox in the henhouse, indeed!

The real issue is immigration Ð legal, yes, but mostly illegal. Neither man denies it exists, although Fox doesn't call it that. He allows that it's simply "migration" and that calling it "illegal" is a violation of the human rights of those people.

That "those people" are, in fact, Mexican citizens, illegally crossing the border into another country, to work and live illegally, bothers him not at all. No doubt because the billions of dollars (estimates are upward of $8 to $10 billion a year) sent back to Mexico every year by those people constitute Mexico's second largest source of income.

The bewildering part of the scenario, is that the president of the United States is playing nice-nice with the head of state from South of the Border and, in the process, almost apologizing for the fact that the United States has laws to control our borders. In fact, AP calls this a "fence-mending" summit.

That really means the United States has to apologize and grovel.

Of course, this ignores problems such as our laws are too often ignored, the borders are porous, the Border Patrol doesn't get the support it needs, the Immigration Service too often doesn't follow up reports of illegals, Mexican military have crossed the border and fired on the Border Patrol, employers brazenly break the law by hiring illegals, cities and churches openly defy the law and provide sanctuary to illegals, millions of people have blended into our population (often voting illegally) and siphon billions of dollars annually from state budgets for social services, education, medical and other benefits Ð to say nothing of the cost to the criminal justice system, insurance and Social Security.

Additionally, while we're at war against terrorism, we know that not only Mexicans cross that border, there are also illegals from Asia, China, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, Central and South America and Europe. They are not poor farmers looking to provide for their families. We have no idea who they are or where they are now.

Tell me again, why all this is OK?

Media reports say this is the summit that had been put off after disagreements concerning the war in Iraq. Wrong. The summit was planned before 9-11, and after that horror it was postponed. Not specifically because of 9-11, but because the original purpose of the meeting was to devise new ways to ease problems for Mexican illegals in this country and pave the way for amnesty.

It just wasn't politic to suggest relaxing the border at a time when we knew that most of the 9-11 killers were here illegally.

The problem is President Bush still wants the border relaxed. President Fox always wanted that and still does. In fact, he wants more than the proposal Bush announced in January.

Fox essentially wants no border for Mexicans. He wants free crossing, free working and free dollars sent home. He also wants Mexicans here to become citizens and be allowed to vote in both countries!

How can someone with such a cordial smile be so pushy?

How can an American president be amenable to such affrontery?

When Bush announced his plan to give visas to illegals, to set up a work plan for them and then to gain citizenship, the reaction from across the country and across party lines was loud and strong: NO AMNESTY!

The administration denies it is, but not many believe. Bush has hardly mentioned it since, except when in states with large numbers of Hispanic voters. Charges of vote pandering ring loud and clear.

Despite that, now it's proposed that Mexicans traveling across the border be exempt from photo and fingerprinting requirements.

With the election looming, President Bush had best pay attention to his voter base Ð in a sane world, that would be American citizens. If he's counting on the vote of illegals Ð people who clearly have no appreciation for the United States and the rule of law Ð he's selling out not only his supporters but also the country and our future.

I wonder why Fox doesn't allow those citizens from South/Central America to "migrate" to Mexico. He's violating their "human rights". This guy is so full of it I can smell it all the way here in IL. When is Bush going to wake up?

We always say it is easy to spot the dems because they never answer a question with a simple straight answer. NOBODY ever answers to the illegal question with a straight answer when they are promoting it. It is possible that GW will lose this election based primarily on this issue & his stance on the wrong side of it.
