Yes, absolutely. My dad had his removed several years ago b/c of nasty stones. He's doing just fine.

You can live without one very well. My boyfriend got his removed and is fine. Actually he is better than when he had it in his body. Many people have theirs removed. Its a very common procedure.

My wife had her gallbladder laparoscopically removed about a year ago. She has some lingering digestive problems, but is fine otherwise.

Can you live without a gallbladder? Mrs TC has gone several years without hers. Some foods, greasy pork, for example, don't digest well, but overall, a huge improvement over the previous gallstone attacks.

Can you live without a gallbladder?Oh yes, and he's going to feel MUCH better after it's gone.

Lib-dems have no functioning brains, and they seem to be doing okay (unfortunately).
My Dad had his removed in the 60s and is a strong 81 and doing just fine. He has a 8" scar across his lower stomach; now they can do it with a 1" incision, or so.

Are you serious? Millions of people live without gallbladders, including me. The liver increases it's production of bile rather than store it, which is what the gall bladder does.
The adjustment takes about two weeks, during which time you lose 10 pounds due to very rapid elimination, if you know what I mean. :>)

I've been living without one now for 5 years. Unfortunately, there can be some nasty side effects and I have one of these--argh!

A lot of people live without a gallbladder, it's pretty standard procedure to remove it, when people get gallstones.
But he is still in the acute phase of the pancreatitis, which in itself is dangerous. If he were healthy and went in for gallbladder surgery, it would be no big deal, but the combination of him still being in intensive care with the pancreatitis and undergoing the surgery is taxing on his system.
I hope he comes out OK.

Can you live without a gallbladder?I hope so, I have for almost 22 years.....:)
I had a stone caught in my bile duct as well, three months after my son was born. The pain is excruciating. It had to be on IVs for 3 days before they could do the surgery.
Prayers for AG Ashcroft for a speedy recovery.

**Can you live without a gallbladder?**
If I'm talking to you from beyond the grave then we're all in trouble. :o)
Seriously though, the answer is yes. I had a gallstone lodged in the neck of my gallbladder. Gallbladder was removed laproscopically (4 itsy bitsy incisions) and I'm doing well, except for heartburn when I lie down...one tablet of Maalox Max takes care of that though.
Too much information? :o)
Here's more. I have a video of the operation...bleeder and everything. You bring the pizza and we'll all watch it, ok? LOL
Prayer heavenward for John Ashcroft!!!! <><
